SMQ, W4, D2, P1 - INF vs. DYN, HZS vs. DAL - NOW LIVE!

FOREWORD: Your humble servant would like to extend his apologies if any part of this thread has typos, appears garbled, or otherwise looks like a 3rd grader wrote it. Due to a “series of unfortunate events”, your humble servant is currently at an “unknown location” with a friend of mine who…wishes to re-enact the lyrics and music video to “Watch Me Burn” by Lansdowne. Regardless, please enjoy the matches!

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Part 1 (P1) of Day 2 (D2) of Week 4 (W4) of the East Region Summer Stage Qualifiers (SMQ) for the 2023 Overwatch League season. It’s Saturday morning, and that means the APAC region is back with another quadrupleheader for your viewing pleasure!

To kick off your Saturday morning, we have the Seoul Infernal (INF) (6-1, +12) (Spring 1st) taking on the Seoul Dynasty (DYN) (5-2, +7) (Spring 5th) in the SEOUL DERBY, LIVE FROM WDG STUDIOS IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA…and if the last match between these 2 teams was any indication, we’re in for a possible “Match Of The Week” candidate right here. And if seeing a rivalry match between 2 cross-town rivals isn’t exciting enough for you, stick around afterward as the Hangzhou Spark (HZS) (4-2, +6) (Spring 1st) takes on the defending League champions themselves, the Dallas Fuel (DAL) (6-0, +16) (Spring 2nd) in another possible candidate for “Match Of The Week”. And be sure to stay tuned for the second half of our quadrupleheader.

The final week of Summer Stage Qualifiers is in full swing, and teams have one last chance to battle for positioning ahead of the Summer Stage Knockouts later this month. Who will rise to the challenge? We’re about to find out, so grab your coffee, turn off the lights and turn up the volume. Week 4 of the East Region Summer Stage Qualifiers continues…NOW!

INF vs. DYN HEADS UP: Despite recent COVID troubles befalling the Seoul Infernal, we are happy to report that the SEOUL DERBY will be played as a LAN/OFFLINE MATCH, LIVE FROM WDG STUDIOS in SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA. As such, ALL BLIZZARD OFFLINE/LAN EVENT RULES WILL APPLY, including a 5-10ms permissible latency (with an automatic pause triggered at 150ms), noise-canceling headphones will have to be used at all times (as such, the earbuds you see some players wear in place of headphones, such as those used by Seoul Dynasty star DPS Profit, will not be sufficient on their own), and technical pauses have much more stringent rules than online matches. Enjoy, everyone!

REGARDING RECENT NEWS: I, and several other fans/followers, are fully aware of recent news reports regarding the owner’s vote at the end of the season…and as I’ve said earlier, if the owners voting to sunset the League at least helps in hastening Kotick’s exit, then I’ll gladly take that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday. THAT BEING SAID, if this season is to be the last, then let whatever fans remain enjoy the last several weeks of League bliss in peace. Attempting to “celebrate” the possible demise of the League by using my threads to name and shame, bash, and/or troll myself or other forumgoers, especially if it’s excessive or blatant, will not be tolerated and will be flagged without hesitation. Don’t be THAT guy who missed the “League is Dead” party cos of a forced forum vacation.

A FINAL NOTE: While I understand that the approaching start of the school year and the approaching start of Season 6 is making for some quite interesting discussions here on the forums…the same rules still apply to this and all other match discussion threads: keep the conversation at a T for Teen rating and keep the trolling to a minimum. As always, thank you in advance and ENJOY THE MATCHES!
