Skins Transferring Across All Platforms

I want to buy overwatch for PC but apparently all my skins from Xbox won’t cross over even though it’s the same Blizzard account. It doesn’t make sense, every game that shares accounts across platforms share cosmetics that I know of. Can Blizzard finally implement this, I promise I’ll buy the game again  Sure I’m not the only one not wanting to lose all my exclusive skins I’ve gathered over the years.

It is something they say they want to do. But it isn’t quite as simple as just turning it on.

The problem with the reason why cross-persistence/progression of your account is not available is that there are both business and technological hurdles Blizzard must overcome. For starters, consoles do not want you to leave their platforms and many license publishing agreements are made that don’t include cross-persistence rights. This is changing of course with games like Destiny 2, Minecraft, Fortnite, and the likes but even then they really only go so far to allow content to be accessed on other platforms as long as you maintain your access to the platform you originally acquired that content. There is also the matter of changing transaction databases to verify purchased or freely obtained content (such as loot boxes and the items that come from them). Overall, it’s complicated.

The good news of course is that this is the feedback the Overwatch team is very well aware of and has expressed interest in it, but at this time there is no confirmation that cross-persistance is a coming feature for Overwatch or Overwatch 2.

I can understand why Xbox wouldn’t want you to switch to PlayStation but if you have OW for a console and the game is originally a pc game there shouldn’t be an issue ( business wise not technologically) why you couldn’t share from a console to a pc

Hopefully the Microsoft aquisition makes XBOX to PC skin transfer possible.

Years later it will come, since MS buys the company
