The rein skin is ok but nothing that screams “must have”.
It is a good example of why skins shouldn’t be bound to events. You can’t really do much with it.

If Orisa doesn’t get a new skin i will be really dissapointed. The only skin good enough for me right now is Reaper.

Rarely are for this event, think Black Lily Widowmaker is the only one I use. All about Archives and Halloween for decent skins.

Loving Reapers, Hanzo’s not so much but hey what can you do when it is based off a real historical person like that, not a must have skin but don’t mind it. Rein’s is kinda cool tbh.
Think it mostly comes down to those who enjoy the theme more than others.

It’s weird really. They managed to make a whole WoW xpac around the Eastern theme, but they can’t keep up with making a handful of interesting skins each year for this game and we’re only at the 3rd year.
I’m usually quite a fan of most of the new year skins, but not this year unfortunately (so far at least).

My problem with a lot of overwatch skins is that they always try to keep the familiarity of the basic skins to the new skins there, as opposed to just straight up going ham and really switching it up, like why does Ana have her darn coat in I think every skin she has? why does reaper also have his coat in every skin outside of his young skin that was also used in the last story event? I understand wanting to keep the idea of the “silhouette” being distinctive, but who honestly cares about that?

That’s the problem. This is the only skin that is presentable and doesn’t alter her appearance too much. She doesn’t have any other skins from events other than Halloween.

This is most likely due to character models and not wanting to go around messing with them so much as to take parts of the mesh apart to add totally new stuff such as their coats/cloaks

Reaper’s is alright, but Hanzo’s & Rein’s are kinda bleh.
I’m still holding out for an Orisa skin, personally.

They’re quite limited because character models need to stay really similar, so they correlate with hitboxes. A little extension more isn’t really bad, but they can’t change larger aspects and they certainly can’t start removing parts from the base model. It’s also why the characters with less armor and/or clothing have more freedom in their skin variation.
For example: Pharah needs to keep her oversized shoulderpads and jetpack flaps.

If it wasn’t for the sleeves, Banshee would replace Blackwatch Moira. Still, she only has two legendary skins that come from events ( although Blackwatch was teased in the Origins video long ago ).

I’ll take these over sports skins any day of the week. Reaper looks great and the other two have big beards: so far so good.
Good theme and ancient/classical stuff is always welcome for me.
