I would love to be able to trade or give skins to my friends. I know RNG is part of the reason loot boxes sell, especially during events, but I have a few skins for heroes I don’t play that I would love to give to my friends and make them happy.
Plus I didn’t get Shieldmaiden Brigitte and I need it in my life before May of '19.
That is not possible just because - money. Blizz need it dollars and if we would be able to get what we want whenever we want, we would eliminate RNG which is driving force of lootbox sales.
I understand Blizzard makes money from loot boxes, and that’s how OW gets its main source of revenue, but it seems like they could still do “something.”
Like I’d even pay $1 to be able to gift a skin. That’d even it out, yeah? If the transaction costed money? And they could even make it so you can only gift to people who’ve been on your battlenet friends list for at least 3 months. That’d avoid online skin shopping through ebay, etc.
/Shrug. I don’t know; I get that there’s a lot of things making this near-impossible as a feature, but I just know I’d love it.
I doubt Blizzard would introduce such ideas. Most people are after maybe one or two skins at most, meaning they’d be satisfied and lootboxes would become worthless even faster than they already are.
They would need to revamp whole buissnes model, making events obsolete. Beside CS:GO base its economy on rarity of goods. Better skins are harder to obtain and you can get more than one. Not applicable to Overwatch, since skins aint that hard to get and you can buy them with gold.
