Well, depending what’s the DPS meta, both roles are technically required to know Tracer.
Cass/Tracer
In a F-DPS meta, the hitscan is required to play Tracer.
Echo/Tracer
So despite her hitscan kit, she’s technically played by both. One could argue double-hitscan meta, but general rule of tumb in higher play, 1 hitscan with 1 fdps.
The only problem here is that game is now f2p, and skilled players won’t buy that much stuff from the shop compared to casuals that are looking for easy-to-play heroes. Hence, blizzard wants to acknowledge this and reward pepegas more than skill. And that the game is free, you have no other option but selling stuff to those who buy the most.
None of what is being said prevents new players from picking up the game, btw. It’s natural to want the characters that take the most practice to be decent at, to be the peak of the game.
Sadly, the direction of OW2 is the opposite and the devs won’t change it easily imo. It seems the devs confuse PvP with PvE, and believe low skill expression could solve the problem of stomping games naively.
I think the issue is that a lot of players don’t know what’s considered skill or not, they assume mechanical skill is the only kind of skill when it really isn’t, Winston and rein are very good example where you gotta play smart and carefully
Lol, no way you think these are difficult characters to play. These are basically free elo, the characters play themselves. Placing a Torb turret in a good spot is harder than playing any of the characters that you mentioned.
