**SKILL** based matchmaking?

why do i always get the worst teammates but the other team always has some t500 sojourn player that hits every shot? while my tm8s and high gold at very least. makes no sense to me. this is not skill based matchmaking. i always do best on my team… highest damage , elims and so on yet im always losing due to teammates not having a single brain cell to operate a simple game

Can’t win them all. Form a group or build some tolerance for random trolls, imo.

There are multiple articles about it on the net. Blizz penalizes top level players by throwing them down into silver matches. You read that right, you could be t500, win too many matches, grats you’re now on a team full of Bronze and Silver.

The match making isnt busted, its intended to work that way. Basically its yet another giant red flag that the remaining OW Team has no idea what theyre doing.

They do know what they are doing, you are just no longer the target audience if you would prefer a fair match to PoG and a $20 skin.

Stop focusing so much on rank and whatnot because it doesn’t matter so much anymore.

The only thing that matters is you. Just focus on YOU getting better (no matter how good you think you’re doing, you can always be doing better) and you’ll win games and lose games and still be updated to your appropriate rank.

I’m currently in gold 2 after the rank reset and I see anything from silver 4 to plat 2 players on both my team and the enemy team. And honestly, I can’t really tell the difference between them. Do I sometimes see an enemy or a friendly with cracked aim? Sure. Sometimes I’m the one with cracked aim.

What I’ve noticed in OW2 so far is if you stop caring so much about the win or the loss and just care only about improving your individual performance, you’ll have a much more positive experience, and you will climb accordingly.

  1. High gold Sojourns should be hitting most of their shots, if they were missing, they’d be silver.
  2. Highest damage and elims on a losing team don’t mean anything. Stats in general don’t mean very much. Stop pressing tab and looking for reasons the loss isn’t your fault or you will continue to lose games.

If you want someone else on the team to have better “stats” than you or to play the game in a way that ensures a win, then you don’t want fair games, you want a carry.

If you think Overwatch is a “simple game” and your own gameplay is flawless, you’re probably making just as many mistakes as your teammates and just not realizing it.

Gold is the middle of the ladder and is heavily populated. If you want to make it to the “above average” level of play, you need to figure out what elements of your gameplay are lacking and improve upon them. A player in a higher skill tier would be able to win your games. And if you’d like to be in a higher skill tier, you need to be able to win them too.

im definitely wayyy above average. im not in gold lobbies

How else are they going to make it a tread mill for you? Honestly, OW2 was designed to be a treadmill to punish you if youre good so you’ll fall in rank, and then have to climb back up.

OW2 is doing what its supposed to, put you on a tread mill.

It’s not skilled based, it was but now it’s broken.

Welcome to OW2, OW1 died for this!

They just flipped the “sr range” to non existent. Have fun getting matched in unwinnable clown fiestas of all ranks.

It’s over. They just now digging the grave.

in all fairness i agree but the way i feel like you get better is playing in higher lobbies and to do that i would need to rank up and not have my teammates throw my games

Yes, then they literally throw you down into bronze or silver if you win too many games in a row.

Its a treadmill man.

Awful players placed exactly were they belong what’s the problem? :smirk:

No more bragging about being erroneously placed in a high rank. Good.

There is no SBMM inplemented in this game. Devs lie . There aint any sbmm. Its random players because the player base is so low, they cant have any sbmm.

im probably better then you

The guy who designed Halo 3’s matchmaker explicitly stated he hates that 343 went back to SBMM. It’s a type of matchmaker that’s not designed for the best experience for the player as much as it is to just make sure everyone gets thrown into games as quickly as possible with a forced 50/50 win rate possibility to make it seem like it’s evenly matched.

Now, I don’t know a whole lot about the technicalities of things like that, but I do know that when you’re constantly losing 60%+ games, you’re not having fun. Messing around and having a great time while losing is one thing, but when you enjoy the thought of actual game play and you’re met with clownery because the game has decided that your match up should not actually be equal? Then I have a problem.

He went on to say that forced SBMM systems have this habit of taking your best stats into consideration, and therefore dictating that you are a better player and should essentially boost worse players. Hence why you can often feel underwhelmed by your team mates if you’ve been performing above average to your current skill rating.

Again, I know absolute squat about things like this, but when I look at my stats and see a decent array of them and then I keep getting matched up with players who play too aggressive for the composition, thus getting themselves killed or players who have the situational awareness of a door knob, it makes you wonder.

TL;DR, SBMM sucks and I wish games would stop using it as a lazy means of matching people up.

SBMM is gonna be one of those things to not leave Multiplayer FPSs cause… it’s just here and is the ‘standard’. Not because it’s the best solution.

Look at the keyboard you’re using right now. There is a better layout that makes more sense but because QWERTY was already made and been out for so long it’s gonna take a miracle to swap to the better solution.

Humans are stubborn lol

Blizzard removing LFG for some reason, and making the “Group Up” at the end of the match shorter doesn’t help this at all.

I’m 41, I’m not about to go looking for randoms to be e-friends with otherwise.
