Since the Switch version is getting Gyro Aiming

I was curious whether Blizzard would be for or against adding Gyro Aiming to other platforms. I understand it’s not inherent in every control scheme, but from what I’ve heard, Playstation controllers support Gyro, and PC supports both Playstation and Switch controllers. The big problem is that Xbox would be getting the short end of the stick due to their controllers’ lack of Gyro sensors, which is unfortunate, but I think it would be really cool to see another control option, not to mention, it may help for accessibility as well. People who might not be able to use a standard controller or keyboard/mouse may be able to use motion controls, and adding that option to other systems would be awesome to see.

pc should get the gyro controls

PC already has gyro controls. Here’s how.

  1. Add Battlenet to Steam.
  2. Connect either a Switch Pro Controller, Dual Shock 4 Controller, or Steam Controller.
  3. Edit Controller in Steam for Battlenet. Enable Gyro.
  4. Open Battlenet through Steam and your gyro will now be enabled for any game in Battlenet. Launch Overwatch.

The gyro controls that you add this way blow away gyro controls for any console game. Every console game with gyro adds needless motion smoothing or a minimum movement threshold that reduces responsiveness.

Properly setup gyro feels like using a mouse in the air. It’s precise and fast. It does require a steady hand which is why I recommend resting your arms on your legs while you play.

And you can use as much or as little as you want. It’s entirely possible to play only with gyro. You setup a disable gyro button that when pressed completely disables the gyro. This button emulates picking a mouse up off the table to reset it. Since you can’t do this with a gyro controller you hold a button instead.

If you want just a little gyro then lower the sensitivity of the gyro and only use it for very small micro adjustments. Personally, I think you’d be doing yourself a disservice since gyro allows precision and speed but hey. Play how you like.
