… how would your personal ban preferences look like?
I’m actually interested in what people would ban (and why). I know that some heroes are more hated than others on this forum, but I’m wondering if personal preferences might differ more than we think. Feel free to include details like reasons for the bans, your main hero, your rank etc for a bit of context.
If you haven’t heard yet - Aaron explained that each player will have 3 slots for hero bans including a priority system. Once all 10 players have made their choices, the four heroes which were picked most often will be banned (priorities accounted, of course). Max 2 bans per role. Source
My list would be:
Mercy
Zarya
Genji or Sombra
I’m a hardstuck high Diamond Zen “OTP”. I don’t give a flying damn about “counter swapping”, I scrim a lot and do lots of coaching with our team’s coach and I practice Zen because he’s who I play most in scrims (and, well, because he’s awesome and fun), and the Counterwatch mentality is simply amusing to me. Therefore my bans are 100% personal preference. I’d ban Mercy because obviously a Zen Main and a Mercy Main is not the best combination. I’d ban Zarya because I simply despise playing against Zarya. I’d ban Genji or Sombra because why not make life a little easier when I get the chance? Although DPS would always be my least priority pick, if even included in the list.

Also: Please refrain from insulting me or each other because of different opinions, I’m specifically asking for personal preferences so everybody’s entitled to their own perspective without being trashtalked.
I get the feeling that if this system is being implemented for all ranks and not just the higher ones like Rivals has it, we’re gonna see a lot of popular-to-hate heroes getting perma banned, regardless of their actual potential impact on the game. Probably a lot of Sombra, Widow, Ana, Mercy, Mauga (justified, tbh), and any and all dive/flank heroes that a given player got annoyed by in a prior game. Ready for an inescapable poke meta? Add on the Orisa perk that gives her her old shield, and we may have Double Shield 2.0, as mandated by the masses.
I need to start getting friends in this game so we can play in a group so we can always ban doom and ball. Nothing is less fun than playing against those.

I just don’t like the characters. I’d rather lose than win playing a game with them in it.
I don’t believe a ban system will solve anything and I actually think it will only make things worse by promoting throwers/leavers. If the character I want to play gets banned enough, trust and believe I’m just going to alt f4.
