I’ve heard all about how the avoid this player feature was getting abused to avoid good players but i have a question. Why is it that feature just got completely removed instead of a simple rework.
I can see a simple fix to bring that feature back. Make it so that if you select a player that you want to avoid, you will no longer be GROUPED with that player. This means that this player will no longer be on your team however you can still go up AGAINST this player. This will make it so people can no longer abuse this feature but instead avoid people who are toxic, uncooperative, throwers, or just people that you dont want to play with. Personally when that feature was available i used to to avoid people who were rude, toxic or trash because i didnt want them on my team, i couldnt care less if they are on the opposite team.
But what if there was an off meta one trick that everyone avoided, would it be fair to have hour long queues just because you play a hero you like ? It’s open to a lot of abuse, even like this.
that depends, if im playing a hero i like in comp badly then yea, i think its fair to have people avoid me because im loosing games for them. But if i play widow and im constantly getting picks and communicating with the team i see no reason why people would try to avoid me.
What if the off meta is getting the picks and such then, do you want to be avoided just for playing Widow, just because people don’t like her ? You have to see the situation thru different views.
So then you just avoid every bad player and only get grouped with good ones thus gaming the system and now we’re back where we started.
isnt that the point? to be grouped with people that are at your skill level? i mean if the person im with is clearly loosing the game for me why would i want to be grouped up with him again? im going to be grouped up with players at my skill level and the person that is doing terrible will drop in rank until he’s at his skill level.
There have been better suggestions that also utilize what you’re saying.
Do that thing you’re saying, only also make it temporary and fall off in like 12 hours. That way you don’t have to play with that person for the rest of your play session, and people can’t just completely abuse it.
Or Limit your “avoid list” to like 10 people, and when you want to avoid a new one, you have to remove an old one.
^ THAT IS EVEN MORE BRILLIANT! id say more like 24 hours but yea, that would be a perfect solution. The system can also keep track of how many times youve avoided the same player and after like 5-10 times of avoiding him it can make the avoiding part permanent.
I disagree. I don’t care about the feelings of off-meta one tricks. Support your team or don’t play with them. Just because you only want to play Torb doesn’t mean people should at all be obligated to play with you, this is a video-game. The point is to have fun. If you make it less enjoyable to experience for other people (without opposing them) then you’re ruining multiple people’s experience just for yourself. Find people who want to play with you, if that’s what you want to do. The burden shouldn’t be on people who queue up randomly for a minority.
I would prefer not to be limited to how many people I can avoid, or for how long. There is nothing wrong with avoiding people who do not support eachother’s playstyles. Similarly, if I avoid “everyone who is bad” then the people I may eventually be queued with who are better than me can be queued against me or avoid me as well.
I don’t support nonsensical compromise that over-complicates things. The removal of the feature was insane. You don’t need to take 5 steps in the wrong direction and 1 step back and say everything’s cool. It isn’t. It was removed because some Top 500 Widowmaker was getting avoided by people who didnt want to play against him. His queue times were long. Making people able to queue against you even if they avoid you is the simplest fix to that.
I don’t want to play with non-aggressive players. Ever.
