What is up with that? I am getting absolutely rolled with plat players (They told me), but when I play with silver players, I steamroll them. What gives?
Edit: Never mind, I guess I placed Gold 5 without noticing, but still plat players?
Yes this has been a thing since ow1 It’s getting really annoying people acting like it wasn’t… When we have direct proof… Of literally every day games…
If you wanna climb to there rank then why are you worried about people barely a rank higher then you, if you think your a gold player the only way to be gold is to lose so what’s the problem?
You don’t get to climb to the next rank by being worse then them so there’s no issue here.
I do not understand what you are saying here. Are you saying I should enjoy playing with people who should be two or three ranks higher than me and enjoy a complete roflstopm of my bunghole?
Well matchmaker only puts you against people one rank below you or higher (comp) now obviously I can’t confirm this till next season until they start showing the lowest and highest rank in a match in season 9.
But I’m saying if you wanna be the next rank you have to play and be as good as the next rank otherwise why let you in in the first place? If you always wanna be a gold player going against other gold players the only solution is to lose games sooo whats the issue?
You can’t just be put in these always ideal situations that would allow you to always win games and move to thw next rank without showing you actually belong in tha rank that’s not how that works.
Otherwise you’d just win and win and win “Oh look Im plat” okaaayyy? Now what? You don’t know how to play with or against these people so your just throwing games and it was a waste of time allowing you into this rank.
Because you have no actual experience and knowledge with the most releative rank to the one your in… your a decoration on your team at best, a thrower at worst.
It be soooo easy to just roll silver players alll the time and fight other golds for this “illusion” of always balanced matches. But like at that point why are you playing? do you wanna go up or down? If your always gonna be gold and you see yourself as gold then stay gold…
Because if matches are always “Balanced” under the mind set “Im a gold player and want to stay gold fighting other golds” your always gonna win “50/50” so you won’t go up or down.
The only thing that can unbalance this in your favor is you…
Otherwise the people who wanna fight plats and even more plats will be plats, and the people who wanna fight golds and even more golds will stay gold…

I don’t know, man, getting rolled by people who are multiple ranks higher is the same as being placed in their rank when I do not belong. You are saying something that has nothing to do with my problem. I agree with what you are saying, but it does not apply here.
Your talking about multiple ranks which Is why I limited my argument to 1 rank difference, but I can agree with you on the multiple ranknthing because thats unfair and you dont learn the experince you would actually moving throught the ranks to deal with those people.
You edited your post after I replied. This makes sense, but again, two or three ranks higher makes this moot.

If we’re going by the new rank structure, then you could apply the old rank structure by suggesting every 1-5 step is roughly equivalent to 100sr.
It was not uncommon to see SR rank spread anywhere from >100-1000< back in the day.
