Silencing question

I am NOT looking to appeal this decision! I am just looking for clarity regarding the rules.
I was silenced, for 14 days. I was surprised I am careful not to be abusive.
I asked and whilst the 1st GM simply said “we won’t change our minds” I pushed a little further for examples of why I was silenced.
Here are the examples I was given:

“any chance you can stand NEAR the team as an aoe healer, lucio?”
“Why have 1 healer and tank given up?”
“worked so hard round 1, now you just off on your own”
“same”
“not sure why they doing it, but cest la vie”
“you are not in voice”
“so far… just cause you wont group”
“Sllm” (Character name was Sllm)
“yes you were sllm” (Character name was Sllm)
“So if I wasn’t “chill” telling me “to chill” would only annoy me.”
“wp!”
“but it’s okay”
“we forgive you”
“one day you will be an adult”

Now granted that last one is far from polite, but I got to say I am surprised.

So can I see the rules that I have broken here, because if “Well played!” is a violation of them I am likely to get banned over and over.

It’s really not about whether or not it’s offensive/breaks the rules. It’s automated.
If you play well & make people salty, they will report you. If you go against a 5 stack? You’re SOL. You’re one of many to feel the wrath of blizzards automated report system. Plenty of people have been banned on alt accounts for “hacking” when in reality they’re just ranking up in comp.

Best way to avoid this is to just disable text chat all together. I got banned after a few comp games (only games I played in roughly a week) for simply saying gg at the end. If enough people report you, you get muted/suspended/banned, regardless of whether or not you did anything wrong. Plenty of videos online show that report bombing is kinda messing the game up currently, but blizz won’t do anything about it. So again, I reccommend just turning chat off, or at least just not talking- as much as it sucks.

While none of those are particularly egregious, sounds like you’re combative and argumentative. Sorry to say, but I genuinely doubt that’s all you’ve said. You racked up enough reports to get a silence because of it.

Personally, I avoid people who are too chatty or argumentative (feeding others toxicity) so I don’t’ have them in my next games.

The first three quotes could have likely been considered harassment. Along with pointing out someone not being in voice or calling someone out by name.

It’s likely that sllm reported you for “Inappropriate communications” and their automated system flagged you as harassing them. The GM not changing their decision is because what you said is similar to what toxic players do, so they’re treating you like one.

Yeah it doesn’t matter if you’re actually toxic or not. Get reported enough and you’ll still get flagged by the system. As you’ve seen, some of what you said aren’t toxic in context, but the flagging system cannot take context into consideration. It’s better off not to talk in most cases in the game, since anything you say can and will get you reported on. Just keep it to stuff extremely obvious to understand without context, lest you risk the chance of getting it taken out of context.

It is automated, and you argue with enough people that they are reporting you for everything. Rack up enough of the reports and bam, you’re silenced. There doesn’t need to be anything especially toxic, but when you are arguing a lot, people will just report because they know they can abuse the system.

Are these QP games? Because if they are, then you’re definitely getting reported for arguing with people in QP. What I do is just keep quiet completely. I don’t say a word. You can get reported for everything and that’s what people do.

It looks like you’re the sort of person that typically argues with people. Why act so surprised they reported you for annoying them? It’s just the way it is. Even if your teammates were acting terrible, the text log history shows you harassing others. Best way to decrease the chance of getting actioned is not interacting with others to begin with.

It’s 100% automated so players send in reports for anything and everything and if you get enough you win a prize.

^ this.

Try to be nicer to people in game. It sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder in every game you play. Calm down, it’s just a video game.

Have you seen the players in this game? They are some of the most rude and nasty people on the planet.

I know, that’s why I’m asking this person to be nice, lol

If I can even get to 1, that’s a win :stuck_out_tongue:

Oooohhh… and you were doing so well, so very well.

I’m afraid what you said melts the snowflakes. And the cheaters that reported you after you pointed their cheating out, they made sure you got reported for it.

As long as ppl report you, you can get silenced for anything.

Can’t get banned if don’t say anything, right?

Too anyone who plays this game…

If ANYONE!!! thinks what OP said, with, or without context could be considered “Abusive” in any way shape or form… and would have reported them, or have reported anyone for anything similar in the past…

needs to go and play a game called “Rust” for one hour… just one… and see exactly what the definition of “Abuse” or “Toxic” is…

it may give you some perspective…

this invitation is extended to any and all blizzard devs/mods also…

Why would I, or anyone, want to do that?

What’s your point? Rust has no moderation, so, OW2 shouldn’t?

welcome to planet of the apes (20 characters)

no, it would just show snowflakes such as yourself what true “Abuse” actually is

shrugs but if you wanna live in bubble wrap its your choice, but when you grow up and go out into the real world where you can’t report someone for saying hello to you in the wrong way, you’re gonna have a culture shock

There is a lot more in this world that us “snowflakes,” may have experienced than “abuse” in video game chat. So, try to think before you talk.

Okay. Well, I will choose to use the system that OW2 has implemented. And if you want to keep abusing chat, :man_shrugging: get banned son
