Sigma's primary fire

Just wondering if people who play Sigma like how his primary fire works? Do you like the janky bouncing to poke around corners?

I just had a thought earlier. I personally think it would be neat if his primary fire had a bit of a homing aspect to it.

It would act kind of like Lifeweaver’s heal where it’ll curve and “chase” the target.

For a guy whose theme is all about gravity (pulling things in) it seems weird to have bouncy balls instead of having him link the balls to the enemies gravitational force.

Just a thought. Admittedly I’m making this suggestion because I just came back to the game and am starting to get into Sigma.

To me his LMB is the hardest aspect of his kit to get the hang of. So this is essentially me just wanting an easier time of it.

Thoughts?

Sigma’s primary fire is certainly hard to get both spheres to land, but if you stay like 20m away, you’ll at least get some splash damage on the enemy even if you miss.

I personally want Sigma to have a 1 (maybe 1.5) sec barrier recall cooldown, the 2 second cooldown feels a little sluggish.

I love it.

I love mechanical tanks with high skill ceilings.

I’ve always hated heroes like rein/winston/dva (lesser so) in the rank role.

I wish we had more Zar/Sig tanks.

Not saying any tank is “easy” or doesn’t have mechanical aspects but certain tanks need to constantly rely on mechanics and other don’t

i would like to have homing spheres. (bc i am bad)
i would quit if I would have to play against it.
the splash and range to me is already quite annoying, but fair and feels good to play already.

i guess would heavily depend on its strenght but i probably prefer using Geometry to sling them around corners

I love his primary fire, it’s versatile to use in different situations. It can be banked around corners and be used to defense off angles. It absolutely shreds in a small choke points.

You can get both balls to hit the same place by keeping the mouse still, or spread them to either side of a target by dragging the mouse slightly but quickly left or right.

Homing would ruin the skill expression of his primary and even more people would call for nerfs.

It’s fun. There’s something satisying about getting the angle just right to finish an enemy who’s just out of sight.

Honestly I’ve barely used the ricochet function, most of the time I forget it exists.

I would like if Zen’s main fire would also get slight homing towards the target he has discorded.

Sigma’s primary fire is really strong, and I like the aspect of bouncing them around corners via geometry (Sigma is one of the most boring heroes to play for me though).

The bouncing primary is fantastic, loved it since sigma came out. If you’re smart with the ricochets you can hit people behind shields, behind cover, if you play the right angles you can keep the whole enemy team out of a choke without even exposing yourself too much. You can even bounce them off the floor to manipulate the airburst distance. It’s a primary that the user can actually get creative with like no other in the game. Homing would be nice but what makes sigma sigma is his unrivaled angle control and having a tool for every possible encounter in his kit. Banking shots is where much of that versatility and control comes from.

I think it’s really good as is. I also wouldn’t trade less damage for more directs.

I don’t usually expect to land directs on bounce shots unless I’m able to line up straight shots. Since Sig pressures corners so much, people end up peaking for shorter amounts of time at close & mid range.
Timing his rate of fire is what I think holds me back from landing more directs. The rhythm on primary is pretty predictable if you hold it down a lot.

It’s easily one of the game’s most fun gun.

Get good at aiming with sigma instead of trying to get the games devs to make one of the most balanced/high skill ceiling characters easier for people who don’t wanna put in the effort.

Whether it’s precision to land direct hits or positioning to land splash damage, it’s a learning tool. Having it curve or chase a target adds leniency. The one thing keeping him clear of the nerfs is his moderate skill floor and ceiling.
As a Sigma player, I find I get the highest value in all stats with the least demand for support compared to any other tank. He’s a healthy balance and rewarding on a good day. I pray they don’t dumb down his kit, placing him in the middle of the NERF threads.

Sigma is great with the bouncing balls. It creates the aspect of physics and 3D geometry. I do not want this changed. This feature is one of his main things I love.

The same goes with Wrecking Ball. I love the geometrical mathematics involved in pivoting, speed and impact calculation. I love geometry and I like calculating things through.

I do not want such complexities removed or replaced for some “AI” formula of chasing the player automatically. There are enough AI features already within the game. We need more dynamics and differences between heroes, not more similarities. The limit should be our own imagination.

I hate how this game is already leaning towards being a MOBA than a FPS. Sigma’s primary fire should and will stay the way it is, with at least some aim being involved. This should definitely help Overwatch stay in the FPS genre.

I don’t mind you wanting an easier time of it, but to me, pulling off a good ricochet is one of the most fun parts of Sigma’s kit. I don’t find primary fire janky at all, personally, and I wouldn’t want it changed like this.

I’m happy to leave the heat seeking grenades to Cassidy.

It’s very underwhelming. That’s if you can even hit anybody with it
