It should be reconsidered. I’d gladly take a worse kinetic grasp to bring back the old 1s cooldown on his barrier. Right now he feels disgusting to play though.
was it 1 second? i liked him when he had 1.5 seconds, was it 1.5??
He never had 1.5s, you’re probably thinking of 1s cooldown sigma.
I think increasing Brig delay after shieldbreak until it starts regenerating again from 3s to 5s was worst nerf ever
But Sigma’s is 2nd place. He feels SO clunky and awkward now
well she had 500-600 hp barrier before so it made sense, but it should be reconsidered now
Actually during that patch, her shield had 250HP
Then they nerfed by increasing the delay between shield breaks
Then they nerfed the regeneration amount from 100hp/s to 85hp/s
All in same patch, they really like making shield users clunky except rein who is always exempt and special treatment
If they really wanted it to be less available they could have easily nerfed the capacity and/or the recharge rate. They took away a huge part of what made him engaging; I haven’t played him since.
I mean they probably will, for OW2
They should have decreases the range and damage of his balls instead. 18m 50 damage per ball rather than shield nerf.
More like make his shield better and his grasp worse
I’m not even convinced he needed that many nerfs. His state was SO overexaggerated.
But yeah they should make grasp worse, that’s probably the least engaging part of his kit.
I agree but devs are adamant. Shields bad hur dur, always, forever and ever.
Seeing how they treated one of the most unique, inventive and fun characters in the game really changed my mind regarding how they balance the game.
More and more I’m convinced there’s only a few people on the team responsible for what made Overwatch so good in the first place. They had lightning in a bottle and the more they tinker with it the more they diminish the spark. The balance team and their blatant catering to owl and content makers is an albatross around the neck of this game.
Then they gutted the core conceit of Hammond and that solidified that thought. Lol.
It’s not that many. 2m of range, from 20 to 18, 55 damage per ball to 50.
The problem overall was and still is incredibly high and consistent poke damage, Sigma was caught in the mess but played his part in it. Discord was adjusted, thankfully, but everything else remains (hitscan, Echo, Bap)…
Devs never fixed what was wrong in the last patches of 2020, they just buffed rush into meta and now of course, we’re seeing the falloff of those changes (Rein, Bap, Cree nerfed).
He does only 73dps. His dps was, and still is, fine.
I can agree on a range nerf, that would be fine. And nerf grasp if you wanted to as well. Don’t touch his damage or his shield cooldown.
Bap wasn’t meta during poke meta
Yeah, they focus too much on what the content creators, general GM players, and OWL players are doing and not enough on what their actual audience is doing.
They’ve gotta start taking fun into consideration with these changes
73 constant dps aoe with more range than even Hog’s hook. Gotta take consideration of context with these variables.
Bap was fine and then buffed in november and october. Poke meta wasn’t as hard defined as some of the others, supports fluctuated with Zen, Mercy, Bap and even Brig (to keep Zen alive). IF goes without saying but Bap also offers a hitscan weapon with 117 reloaded dps with 25-50m fall off points (Ashe is 30-50) while multitasking for what at the time was over 60 HP/s.
So?
73dps which has to be aimed (I’m assuming the accuracy is quite low) is not that bad… 20 metres or not. Hog literally one shot combos from 20m, and the hitbox for hogs hook is way bigger than sigmas hyperspheres.
what you’re saying isn’t wrong I’m just saying bap wasn’t meta back then.
So it’s too high for a tank with such range and no reload.
Hog’s current relevance should speak enough about the state of his kit and how his kit compares with Sigma’s.
I contend that Bap was among the strongest supports from October forward, quite possibly until now. Furthermore he was and still is one of the reasons tanks needed sustain buffs and why they were blowing up so fast back then.
Hard meta or not, OWL ended in early October so difficult to say, I say yes for he showed in contenders and in the mix of supports that played well in high ranked games.
I reckon all of these problems are present in the game still, just ever so slighty better. Tracer fall off, Ashe and Echo nerfs helped a little bit, sustain buffs for tanks were mostly comical and Bap has a harder time multi tasking damage if he wants to maximize healing. Discord was the big one.
I suspect a game state (to intentionally avoid the word “meta”) very similar with the one from October to January is barreling down towards us as we speak, defined by self sustain CDs, poke damage and a barrage of twitch clips of tanks vanishing from hero to zero.
Great brawlers Blizzard is making, huh?
Agree to disagree I suppose. If anything, his damage is on the lower side for the tank roster. A lot of other tanks have higher damage. I.e hog zarya orisa (all who have way higher damage, I mean, are you gonna say orisas dps is OP now? she has no range limit and does 132 dps not including headshots, if you think sigmas is OP then good god, what must orisas dps be?)
Could you elaborate this point?
Agreed
Agreed
Hm… That’s possible, but I’m not convinced. I have a feeling we’re settling into map dependant metas.
Oh, thought I’d show you this also:
Hanzo is a problem.
