You can melee immediately after throwing two hyper spheres, but you have a large cooldown on throwing more hyper spheres. Does doing a melee extend that recovery time on hyper sphere?
If not, that would make it optimized close range DPS. Sort of how Winston against Armor is better with Zap -> Melee. At least before the global armor shift.
I’d assume not, because I’m pretty sure Doomfist’s LMB doesn’t have its recovery delayed either and neither he nor Sigma actively reload their weapons.
I did some testing and it appears that it does not increase recovery time. However if you melee too early you can actually interrupt his primary fire so that he only shoots one sphere.
Won’t work soon, since the patch currently on PTR reduces his LMB damage by 5. Now part of me wonders if this combo might not be specifically why they did that, especially since they’re buffing the boulder’s damage by 10 to compensate.
My personal guess is that he simply does too much damage. When I play Sigma, I’m pretty much guaranteed gold damage and am generally hitting close to 10k / 10 now, and I’m certainly no expert.
I predicted that they would nerf his primary but I didn’t think it would happen this soon.
It doesn’t change the cooldown. You should pretty much always melee between shots on the slim chance some one you didn’t see walks into your fist because there is so little downside. The same way Rein should pretty much always either have his shield up or be swinging.
My life time average is 11.6k p10, I didn’t run him in competitive until I felt like I good handle on him so the sample size is really small but that’s over 14k p10. And I’m not great either.
He’s an odd one because it’s really possible to get four gold medals for just doing your job, unlike Moira where you get five for not doing your job.
Melee cancels animations but it doesn’t cancel the recovery.
You can test this by reloading as Reaper. If you immediately cancel, you’ll notice there is a large wait time before you can shoot again.
If you wait half a second and shoot, you’ll notice you can shoot straight away.
They’ve removed the ability to do this on the ptr.
True, but until recently the rules have been different for heroes that can’t manually reload. Doomfist’s melee did increase recovery time but now that’s no longer the case, so I think some people are confused about what exactly the rules are for these types of heroes.
