I think we can all agree sigma was overnerfed so I have a view obvious ideas to help him out and one that might seem kinda useless but would be a big help:
accretion damage reverted to 60
once ult has been casted it can no longer be interrupted
shield cooldown removed (and I guess the 0.2 cast time put back in place if necessary)
kinetic grasp shields gained applied simultaneously with damage taken (meaning the shields would no longer be applied all at once at the end of kinetic grasp’s animation)
The kinetic grasp change would allow sigma to remain alive a bit longer if there’s an orisa shooting him and a Zarya zoning in on him he would typically die as kinetic grasp can’t be cancelled but with this change he would able to take the shield from the orisa shots and tank the Zarya damage, at least theoretically. Not a huge buff but it’d help him out along with the other reverts
Never thought of this one out, this is actually a very positive idea, I mean Zarya gets her energy instantly as she receives damage and her trade off is a lot better than kinetic grasp reward.
Honestly, one of the reasons I think that Sigma feels terrible is his matchup against Reinhardt, and Rein’s the most played tank right now.
Kinetic Grasp is a “pls hammer down now” button, and also once he sees you drop your shield, he knows he has a full second to press q.
There isn’t much counterplay to Charge, unless you can manage to get through the cast time of Accretion to throw the rock in time.
I think removing the 1s cooldown on barrier recall, or reducing to 0.5 or 0.25, wouldn’t be overpowered, and would reduce the glaring moments of “pls hit me now”.
I’d rather he gained 100 shields immediately upon using grasp in addition to a lowered conversion of absorbed dmg. Then he could at least not be completely useless against beams/hammers.
Futher I think he needs a bit more hp/shields, and I’d rather have a lower CD on shield (0.5s or so) than a deployment time. Also it’d be nice if he could use Grasp with his right hand while ulting.
All of these might be a bit too much, not sure. But it’s ideas I like.
You are basically bringing him back to the original state, forcing a double shield meta again, while leaving him garbo as a main tank agains’t rein.
The problem with sigma is not that he is really bad, it’s that he is really bad at doing the job he was designed to do, being a main tank. He needs more close range survivability, to be able to cancel knetic grasp mid animation and get the shields so he can block ultimates like shatter and not get killed by beam abilities before grasp is over and he needs to not have that 1 sec cooldown on his barrier, in exchange they should reduce his long-range damage, IF they want him to be a main tank.
Ya I personally really like that idea since kinetic grasp has no use if he gets stunned or obviously dies, it’d increase his survivability in a way that’s not obnoxious
As a Sigma-player, I can disagree with most of these. His ult being interruptable and having a 1 second cooldown for his shields are both good things. It means you have to think more when playing him. His kinetic grasp would be a good change tho. My thoughts are:
Increase shield hp to 1100-1200 (shield lasts longer)
Increase his hp by 50-100 (makes him an overall beefier tank)
Also the ultimate is disrupted 80% of the time. It’s really difficult to land the ultimate fully against either a ton of damage on a huge flying target, or a variety of hooks and stuns and rocks thrown at you
