Sick of Losing Because Tanks Won't Walk Forward

I’m a healer. I one-tricked moira to low diamond a couple seasons back, and came back after role queue was implemented.

So I lock in as healer, play moira, and lose 4 games in a row because our tanks hold a contest to see who can act most like a paper-mache wall.

We literally never touched the objective once on a control map because our tanks didn’t press w. Apparently they were afraid of junkrat and reaper, so they decided sitting in the choke and hoping the problem went away on its own was the right way to go about things.

Now, I know this is a novel concept, but if junkrat and reaper are a problem, then if you move forward, junkrat will move backwards if he’s smart, and reaper will follow you to the control point, so at least you are fighting on the point and potentially setting it up for capture. AKA, it’s a BETTER SOLUTION THAN SITTING THERE WITH YOUR THUMB UP YOUR NOSE PLAYING AIR TRUMPET AND WAITING FOR YOUR CHICKEN TENDIES TO COOK.

This was even more aggravating because I was moira, and we had a mercy, AKA the HIGHEST HP-PER-SECOND HEALER COMBO IN THE GAME SANS PERFECT ANA PLAY.

To prove this point, I went into the point by myself as moira, got two kills, and survived for 15 full seconds without dying. 1v5. Now hmmm, I wonder what would happen if our HIGH HP TANKS WITH SHIELDS walked in with two healers pocketing them the entire time?

When I tried explaining this to my team, politely at first, then with more and more insistence, they treated me like an idiot.

How on earth are there people this dumb? Seriously? They thought that not playing the game was a better idea than playing it, as if not moving would win us the round somehow.

No, I’m serious…how have these people lived this long? These are people who I am pretty sure have to breathe manually, who have an internal debate every time they eat something to decide if digesting the food they swallowed is the right course of action, and I had 4 games in a row of these specimens. How on earth does this constitute good matchmaking? Is it because I was diamond once? Do they expect a diamond support main to hard-carry them? WTF, Blizzard?

I dunno what posting about this accomplishes. I guess I was just pretty cheesed off about the whole ordeal.

So. A PSA:

PRESS W TO WALK TOWARDS THE POINT. WALKING TOWARDS THE POINT MEANS YOU HAVE A CHANCE, HOWEVER SMALL, TO WIN. IF YOU DON’T PRESS W, YOU DON’T EARN A W.

Thank you for attending my Ted talk. Exit’s behind you.

There is no solution here other than to que with tanks you know or to que as a tank

role queue was supposed to fix this, but i guess people just want a free loot box or some piddly amount of credits rather than have a good game. To be honest, i think role queue made this worse, because now people who aren’t tank mains have a reason to play tank.

No it wasn’t

Role que was never meant to make people better

Would you rather have 30 minute ques

Walking forward doesnt always work, you gotta walk your team to cover 1st, then to wherever puts your team at a advantage

Overwatch tends to attract low IQ people for some reason. Probably because it’s a blizzard game and WoW for example is a “everybody wins!” game.

it was supposed to 1. fix off-meta game-breaking comps, 2. allow people who main roles to play those roles, thus supposedly resulting in more balanced, even matches. At least, that was my impression- people were sick of getting matched with people who wouldn’t go tank or who would be forced to play something they were bad at. Now, they kinda undermined that by trying to encourage non-tank-mains to play tank, which I theorize is the reason behind so many off games.
