Shouldn’t have given a date for the beta

The psychology of humans means that by giving us a date we’ve become more impatient, than if there had been no date. We would’ve just chugged on the time but since the date of the beta came out, it’s been worse has been worse than the last 2 years of no content

Bro it’s out in 3 weeks, you can wait 3 weeks.

Speak for yourself, I find it a relief to have a date and some tangible proof that Overwatch 2 is going to make it out of development. Although, it’s also not like it’s an open beta, so for most, it’s probably just a date for more news.

They don’t care if it’s worse for you. It gets the word out to all the people who quit the game.

Just for you, I hope they delay it.

Smile :slightly_smiling_face:

Not to discourage everyone but just keep expectations tempered, I should remind you all. Even though we know when the first Beta test is starting, not everyone who signs up at Overwatch 2 will be guaranteed entry, but they will be merely in the pool of players that they will choose from.

Good luck to all who sign up! (^^)v

Is this forum real? It’s unbelievable someone posted that they are upset they set a date for a beta after 2 years of hearing people melt that they haven’t set a date for anything.

This. Forum. Is. Awful.

you could say the same thing about OW2 info in general really…people are impatient :man_shrugging:

Its basic psychology tho. The last 3 weeks of waiting have felt way slower than the entirety of last year.
If they had just dropped the beta date a week before, I could’ve just jumped in and been surprised but instead its just waiting for it to happen.

I wonder … Do you know when we get to know if we got accepted for the beta?
Do we get an E-Mail or should we have gotten one already?

The official Overwatch 2 F.A.Q. specifies…

To my knowledge emails have yet to be sent out. I don’t have an exact date, but I would speculate they will come relatively close to the start date of the beta.

I thought so

I mean normally yes, giving out concrete dates is bad in games. Especially if your unable to meet those promises. Blizzard messed up revealing OW 2 all those years ago when they had nearly nothing done with it.

That said years of silence has taken it’s toll and merely saying nothing isn’t really an option any more. People have moved beyond anger for the most part and gone with Apathy. OW 2 was announced because after years of nothing and that horrible announcement for Diablo mobile game with hints of OW mobile games coming…

People were abandoning ship fast. OW 2 is the last ditch effort by a semi desperate company imo. Blizzard seems unable to make new games any more and one old franchise after another is dying off due to neglect.

It’s also basic psychology to get excited. Why aren’t you excited?

Weird… I find it incredibly easier to tolerate waiting when there is a clear end in sight. Now whether or not I’ll be playing is still up for RNG to decide… but at least we’ll have SOMETHING and we have a date for it.

Humans actually work better when they know whats coming

Human psychology is to be anxious about the unknown… we are literally programmed to fear things that are unknown to us

having solid information alleviates this anxiety by giving us the option to plan around it

Eh, we’ve already waited 2+ years. A few more weeks/months is practically nothing at this point.

Keep in mind not everyone is going to get into the beta on April 26th.

You’ve become impatient. Fixed it for you…

The psychology of humans doesn’t seem to apply to me since I’m happy to get a date for the beta. This confirms that I’m not human - what a relief!

After 2 years with no content, they need to create hype as much as they can among the sleeping/dead community.

Without a date you wouldn’t be able to sign in and most players would have missed it.

There’s a big difference between excitement & hype to drying & baiting.
Overwatch 2 first teaser/trailer was just a drying bait, forcing the player face to wait forever without any new content without knowing pretty much anything.

Beta in a month is hyping because it’s actually close, has an official release date and instead of making the condition of the game worse by doing something like cutting content, it actually gives the players something to do.
