Should Reinhardt have his 2K shield health in OW2?

Since Double Shield is impossible, there shouldn’t be any worries about shield stacking.

Plus, it’s Reinhardt’s entire backstory! He stopped being so reckless so he could protect his team. How is he going to protect his team with 2 Fire Strikes (but keep those in too).

I think giving him a stronger shield would make him unique, since he would be the only shield Tank.

Also, wasn’t it said somewhere that Sigma would get a rework? This would make Reinhardt even more unique.

No. There is plenty of cover and players should stop relaying on shields. If they increased the hp. Either he will be most played and/or the players would annoy tanks to play only Rein. Even if they are horrible at him.

He doesn’t need it, I wouldn’t even make an argument for the 1400HP barrier he has cirrently

Maybe, but Reinhardt is pretty weak unless he can get within smashing distance and Charge isn’t all that reliable. I think putting more power into his shield, in exchange for being the only Tank, will let him make more aggressive plays, by pushing forward with his shield. Numbers are subject to change, of course.

It’s 1,600.

Nah he doesn’t need it, he puts in a ton of pressure already when taking points. Adding more shield health would be really annoying to deal with considering we have one less tank to shoot his shield.

Rein is still king of brawl. He doesn’t need buffs imo

Currently rein’ shield is too weak for support massive damage now in OW2. I think they should consider increasing a bit of his shield health to adapt in new overwatch scenario.

The people who think Rein is good are people in low ELO. He isn’t good and a shield buff would help. Although until they nerf zen discord he won’t be having fun ever.

youre not good at rein, no offense, if you think rein is anything less than strong, you dont know how to play him properly

What? Supports didn’t get increased damage. If enemy supports have lots of free time to pummel your barrier, you should suggest to your team that they start shooting at the enemy more than not at all. Or you should position better. Play around corners, not hang in the open. The biggest change is it’s 5v5, so there’s 1 whole less player pumping damage into your barriers. Barriers are still incredibly powerful in OW2. If you’re not playing a barrier tank, you’re going to feel it.

no. there is plenty of cover and the whole reason of going to 5v5 was to make it so players didn’t have to keep shooting shields constantly

I find it funny when people say “If they increase Rein’s shield, he’ll be the only tank played!”. For all this talk of “Make tanks more like damage heroes and they’ll be played more!”, you all seem to know that people want to play tanky tanks.

Yeah, that’s right. They gave the no range melee hero Tank a big shield so that he can’t actually use it and needs to use conventional cover. That’s such a brilliant idea, lmao.

Why don’t we make it an unbreakable shield? No DPS has ever shot a shield down anyway.

Definitely not. Reinhardt would have to lose some of his HP or damage in exchange and that wouldn’t be worth it.

By all accounts, Reinhardt doesn’t sound like he’s in a good spot at all. With no range, the fact that he’s out damaged by other tanks who can afford to stay far from him while damaging him, AND the fact that he only has one damage mitigation skill where most other tanks have two, why can’t he have a big shield?

I really think the fanbase is holding the game back when it comes to good game design. People don’t want to shoot a shield that bad that they’ll leave Rein in a bad spot and go “N-no, he’s actually great now! You see, he got his, uh…two fire strikes?”.

he CAN use it and it’s really well too. if your saying he’s mid tier in power level i agree but he doesn’t need shield health. at most he needs that armor revert to be reverted again so it’s 300 health 350 armor again.

but eitherway he still has a great shield, it has no deployment time and has decent health

Not from what I’m hearing.

What number value is “decent”? I’m leery when I hear you guys say this because to a lot of you “decent” is like 400 HP or something. Besides that, what do you think of what I said here

What’s the logical reason for it? Sigma can have a “good” shield and a DM, Orisa can have a shield spin and that gold mode, Doom can have insane mobility and can block damage like a conventional tank…but Reinhardt can’t have a massive shield? Why not?

ESPECIALLY when he’s the only tank AND damage heroes still do incredible damage by design? It seems like Damage heroes get to damage, but tanks don’t get to tank.

Damage has generally been nerfed or stayed the same. And there is one less tank per team damaging a barrier. It certainly doesn’t need buffs from ow1 with less dmg to break it.

I don’t think a big shield is the answer, yes, that’s for him, but buffing it is more-so for his team, the HP it has now is more than enough for just him. If he’s suffering he should get an HP/armor buff, not a barrier buff.

what you hear isn’t about his shield sucking. the armor nerf was very unneeded and just made him kinda squishy again. at most he can have his damage to 90 but that’s it

decent would be 1000-1500 health, he already gains his shield health at a fast rate eitherway.

reinhardt is unique because he’s a close range tank. again, i’ll say he can have 90 damage on his hammer and possibly increase his fire strike damage to 95 from 90 so it goes from 180 to 190 if both hit. at that you can also increase its projectile speed too bc it’s pretty slow

but i agree, he lacks range which makes him become outdamaged which is why people prefer other tanks. what we can do is this

Health Pool

  • Health/Armor redistributed to 300/350

Rocket Hammer

  • Damage increased from 85 to 90

Firestrike

  • Damage increased from 90 to 95

this would definitely help him and make him strong
