Should i turn it G-Sync on if, I drop below 240 fps? I have a 240hz monitor. What does it do?
Of course you should.
G-sync allows for variable refresh rate. If you have a 240Hz monitor and frames aren’t rendered in something that divides by 240 cleanly (240/120/60/30), then the video card will dump half of a frame and render the next frame at the half way point, causing ‘screen tearing’.
With G-sync, if the frame doesn’t render within time, it’ll just stop until it does, then adjust the timing on the monitor to allow the next frame to respond naturally.
Should I cap my frames at 237 then?
Thats what I do. At such a high frame rate the added input lag from g-sync is so minimal you cant even notice. Even Seagull says he cant notice it.
But no tearing adds a whole new level of clarity combined with the high fps and refresh rate. It is pretty much as clear as the game is going to get
most people just put unlimited frames. like i have 144hz. yet i always put unlimited so i get 200 frames. i just don’t want a lag or performance drop if i cap it (so if i have 200 frames and it suddenly drops to 150, my frames are still perfect for my monitor) it’s basically just a peace of mind kind of thing.
but also note, for G sync u need a g sync monitor (more expressive)
Free sync is AMD but it does the same thing. depending on ur graphics card.
Gsync/freesync and Vsync are bad for shooters. No one uses them because it adds input delay.

G-sync has input lag.
To OP:
Test and see how it feels. In general G-sync should let you track more easily, but it might hurt your flicks. And yes, you should undercap to 237 fps or lower (I’d go 236).
I was just about to write that.
Be quicker boi! get ownded! jk i have a 180hz screen with Gsync and a stable 300 fps and i only have it on during single players or games that a mouse delay is not notable to begin with.
You should not do this. you should take the most stable framerate. A higher frame rate gives a lower mouse input delay, but a FPS that fluxuate to much will make u miss since u can never develop that muscle memory, because every shot will take less or more movement for the same distance.
Well ya ofcourse.
Freesync is AMD and you only need a AMD graphic card. Most screen already have freesync but its like Vsync horrible , this is why it’s free.
i’m a flex player so i don’t have muscle memory(i got like 3-5 different sens). like if i was a role 1 or 1 trick then yea i get you. plus im a tracker kind of dps than a flicker. and if u got good aim people should already know how to compensate for it. and i think lower mouse input delay > muscle memory.
Everyone has. Simply means u keep switching DPI, Sens etc.
I do not know what u mean by this.
The asus xg 258q monitor has free sync, but it’s also gsync compatible.
