Should I Delete The game Toxicity Is Too Much For Me

I’m really struggling to enjoy the game at all because of toxic players. Its nearly every game that I’m called out for not countering the enemy tank or I’m going in alone or I just suck. Every time I get of the game, I feel like ending it.

Yes. It’s not worth your mental health. If you have friends, play games you can play with them and no randoms.

Honestly,
But you HAVE to do it and not give in.

Leave voice chat
And
Type /hidechat

You will never hear from anyone and can just play the game.

Or play with only friends

You could do what I do. Turn off team voice chat. Play it like it’s a single player game.

You can even turn off the text chats if you want. I don’t usually go that far, but sometimes I just don’t want any interaction outside of “Enemy here!” “Hello!” “Press the attack!” “I need healing!”

Well if the game was in a better spot maybe players wouldn’t be so toxic.

You have chat on? Dear god don’t do that as a solo player, it would make the strongest person want to Ctrl+Alt+Del (the game, the game.)

You don’t need anything but pings tbh. Don’t even remotely engage in chat. Yes there’s nice people, but the garbage people just poison it.

You don’t have to DELETE the game, but definitely turn off all chats. My wife and I both always play healer, and AT LEAST every other match has someone talking crap if they die. And, of course, in good gamer fashion, they REEEEEEEEEEEE at the healers when they were likely doing something stupid. ANYWAY, we mute our chat completely now and just enjoy the game.

Mute text & voice chat. There is a setting in option where u can permanently off them. The biggest enemy is not the enemy team but your team. In some ways they can ruin your day.

Online games are nowadays toxic as hell and yeah, OW can be more toxic because it requires more teamplay.

Just mute the chat and more importantly, don’t play tanks.

Welcome to life on online. Just ignore them or turn off chat. Surprised how much people let some random person get to them. Play the game that’s fun for you and ignore them.

Do not take Overwatch players seriously.

Keep your friends close but your frienemies closer!

Playing games is supposed to be something you do for fun. It’s unfortunate toxicity is ruining your good time, but if it’s becoming so bad you’re not enjoying yourself anymore, maybe taking a break wouldn’t be a bad idea. I had to take a break to play other games myself and I find myself enjoying the game again when I came back.

turn off coms, no voice chat or chats, you cant make it so you can’t even type in them in your settings. This helps me a lot.

Also, its often a sign that there are some feelings going undealt with elsewhere in life. A healthy and well adjusted person would look at toxicity and just mute it and move on, but in my experience, when I care far too much about my rank, I have poor self esteem in general, and I spend too much time gaming, the toxicity is devastating. Even sometimes I imagine the toxicity and it gets me really down. I think the solution is either

  • change game mode to something less competitive
  • avoid all communications
  • play with friends
  • add extra things/hobbies to your day as well as overwatch so you can maintain some perspective. It’s cliche but movement, connection, helping others, a healthy diet and regular sleep go a long way to making things like overwatch toxicity just not even register on the feelings wheel. Doesn’t mean you have to quit the game, just small adjustments a day at a time to a healthier life

I hope that helps

I think disabling any type of communication helps. If you can enjoy the game without “feedback”, then not having chat will help. If you don’t enjoy it with or without, maybe take a break.

I took a massive hiatus as I always do. It really helps.

Just play DPS. Nobody cares what you do.
