Should I buy Overwatch or save for Overwatch 2

I’m looking to buy a new overwatch account to play some heroes that I don’t usually get to play on with my main (Not for smurfing, I just want an alt). And I plan to keep playing it as often as possible.

I’m hoping OW might go on a sale with this anniversary event, and I’m waiting to buy it if it does. But I’m also looking forward to playing OW2 as well. Since I’m on a bit strict budget, If having an OW account doesn’t offer any discounts for buying OW2 I would much rather wait till OW2.

And I can’t find any official statements on how they plan to sell it.

So my problem is, should I buy an OW now or wait for OW2?

PVE is all you buy for OW2.

I would get it cheap for $10 from a third party site tbh and see if you like it or not, but smurfing is dumb

Save it to ow2. Right now the game is on a terrible state. They wont release tanks and healers till next game.

You should wait for OW2 only if you are really into the PvE stuff. Otherwise no.

The problem is that there isn’t any.

Anyway OW2 won’t be launched before september 2020 and that’s a date you shouldn’t even believe in. It’s not before September but probably early/mid 2021.

If you are short on money, maybe consider don’t buying another OW1 for playing other characters but if you can, you should be able to use your account a lot before OW2. And when OW2 comes out, you won’t have to upgrade your 2 accounts, just upgrade your main for PvE and keep the other one with PvP access only if you cannot buy the game again.

Those cheap 3rd party sites, such as G2A, sell games for cheap because they steal keys. It’s not cool to buy from them.

not sure what you mean by cheap keys. Personally I only have one account for PC so i’m just going off what I hear and have seen.

why would you save 40 for like minimum 2 years?? surely in 2-3 years you can have another 40 moneys

I like PVE and cosmetics.

I would rather get it from the blizzard store if I can. And there is not much prize different anyways if you buy it in a sale. And as said I’m not buying it to smurf.

That’s sensible. I was hoping to get an idea about how will they plan to upgrade it.

It will undoubtedly cost $60(or whatever final price is) regardless of if you have ow1 or not. That’s basically why they are calling it ow2 and not just an expansion, it’s marketing bs to justify the full price tag. So it would make more sense to wait for OW2, but then again you’d also be waiting a year+ for that. It’s really up to you.

If you haven’t decided yet, I suggest waiting unless you want to start playing during the upcoming anniversary.

In the end, you should be saving some money. Overwatch 2 comes with far more changes and it’s better to get used to the new things as every primary mode - Control, Hybrid, Payload, Assault - will be replaced by “Push” once it comes out.

i doubt ow2 will be released this year so there is that
