Kinda like what Marvel Rivals does?
Instead of perks, certain heroes gain certain upgraded abilities, or maybe even new abilities on keybinds.

Team ups are the worst aspect about Mahvel. Imagine being forced to play Winston just to access Cassidy’s old stun. That would be dumb!
Never played rivals, but that system already sounded bad to me. Especially if they can be strong enough where it feels pretty much required to have someone else play a certain hero to buff you. Certain heroes already work better with specific others, I don’t see much of a reason to reinforce that even more.
Yes, so Reinhardt can finally throw Torbjorn.
It’s even worse than that in some cases because like Buddha said, it can result in some characters losing out on an entire ability. Ultron feels like an incomplete character to me, and requires someone else to go Iron Man in order to feel like he’s got a standard kit to play with.
That can happen with perks too - to me, Bastion feels like he should simply get self-repair from the get-to, and it currently feels like he has to spend a major to get to the level of other characters’ base kits - but at least perks are entirely self-contained. As long as the game goes on long enough, a Bastion is going to get a major perk; Ultron is just up the creek if he wants more than a barebones kit and no-one goes Iron Man. That’s a Stark truth.
I think you mean Torb’s turret can launch Reinhardt.
I think it would be cool, at least for lore’s sake and such. I don’t know about how practical it would be, seeing as I almost never remember to use my Team-Up ability in Rivals.
More often than not, you don’t even want to use the Iron Man team-up because it isn’t cancellable and cuts down your DPS considerably. It’s his most vulnerable state because you deal very negligible damage. It’s a “come kill me” button.
I don’t like the team-up concept that much. The only thing worse than having to farm new abilities (perks) is praying that a teammate would select the team-up hero.
Hero abilities should be as deterministic as possible. Making them tied to RNG is a bad idea
I wouldn’t know because I hardly got to play around with the darn thing before I got bored of Ultron anyway. All the Iron Men were on the other team.
Ultron’s primary is kind of neat and… that’s about it.
I love the micromanagement drone healing, but I wish he had another ability. He doesn’t quite feel like Ultron?
Absolutely not.
I hate it.
So what do you do if the other hero you need in your team to unlock these skills isn’t picked? You have nothing.
Being dependent so much of other players is frustrating.
Nano boost + dragon blade = nano blade. There you go. Team up ability in game since 2016
we got teamups in overwatch, its just that you need to play 200+ hours to understand how it works, compared to the shortcut of rivals where it is easier to understand but you are limited in its usage (once maybe twice over 3 teamfights…) and also that can be taken away if your teammate simply changes hero.
