Should Cassidy's Deadeye damage persist through lost LOS?

When Cassidy uses dead eye, it locks onto enemies and slowly ramps up damage over time when you have LOS on the enemy. How ever, the damage persists say when you walk around a corner. Wouldn’t it be more fair to have the damage ramp up reset on lost LOS? or even just go down at a slow rate.

Edit: Also maybe add an audio cue as to when deadeye is cancelled?

I think Deadeye is fine as is. I just want him to have 200 HP again

Deadeye is already cheesey, being one of three autoaim hitscan ults (i hate them all)
but I think this wouldn’t help anyone.

This would let players line of sight to “reset” the damage, then pop out and instantly kill McCree bc they know where he’s located now

The reset would mean one could pop in and out multiples times and not be worried at all.

No because the damage isn’t per target.

It is. You can easily test it in practice range by positioning yourself so that you have los only to one bot and once you have a skull move a little so that you get los to another one. Fire immediately and you’ll see the first target dies while the second survives.

If anything its weird that deadeye also acts as a wallhack since after you take cover it still shows where you are going until he ends it.

Complaining about one of the worst ults in the game and wanting it nerfed lol. Just shoot him.

It would be completely useless. Anyone could just repeatedly peak, shoot and then go behind cover again. I can’t imagine killing much other than flying heroes.

This, i absolutely hate this aspect of the ult. It also lets him know fully when when/if someone will poke.

No, it’s already one of the worst ultimates in the game.

As a Cass player myself I usually use it to kill a Valk or Pharmercy combo or just zone the point if we’re running out of time to capture.

Totally agree.

There was a discussion recently about this and as most ults have an audio queue when they end, Cassidy’s seems like an oversight not having one.

A simple gun click or vl “time’s up” would suffice. :slight_smile:

That’s what I mean. The fact that it’s a bad ult balances out the absurd power of the rest of his kit. His neutral game still way too strong though, still needs more nerfs.

Deadeye is literally the easiest ult in the game to counter. Currently it’s only good for zoning, doing this will make it useless for that aswell.

Why don’t we start significantly nerfing actual problematic ultimates first.

Not much of a zoning tool if I can continually peek his ult so that it never gets to a point of being lethal

I get why players call it one of the worst ults and a meme ult, but I have to disagree with that notion.

People who are saying this are only looking at the cons:

  • Charge time
  • Bright light
  • Slow movement

But these people forget that it freaking one shot multiple enemies. An ult that powerful needs to have massive weaknesses.

Also, just give it time.
The devs are biased as heck and will most likely buff him some more in the near future.

As much as Cassidy annoys me, his ult is pretty bad overall because it leaves him very slow and reveals his location for all to see. The one bit of value it does have (aside from being a quick reload button, yikes) is its potential in zoning.

If you could just break LoS for a second and have his damage ramp up reset, well then he’s literally just a free kill because even if he opted to shoot, he’d do very little damage. At least if the damage ramp stays up and the enemy is behind cover, he can force the enemy out of key areas like the objective due to the fear of being killed by a powerful shot.

That would be fine if the damage ramped up quicker than what it does now if it reset then it would be a nightmare they would be able to run behind cover due to the ramp up time and then just keep peeking and poking you again and again.

How can you disagree with it, it takes so long to charge you can walk away from the ult even if your in the open,
It gets cancelled by everything Dva matrix, Genji deflect kills you, Roadhog hook, Barriers stop the majority of the damage.

The ramp up time makes it easy for widow to 1 tap you, Hanzo to 1 tap you
Soldier and enemy cassidy can damage you quick enough to kill you before the ult kills you

Its pretty terrible ult id say the only thing is its good when used with nano or transendence or beat since you wont have to worry about getting burst down as much but it can still get canceleld
