Hello Overwatch citizens!
Lately we got new teaser which is tied to newest deatchmatch map. In it we learn about fate of people and they struggles after Hashimoto takes over. And this piece of information allow us to see Shimada story a new.
First, lets trace back to “Dragons”. There we learn about story Sojiro Shimada told his sons. It terrifingly parrareled with future events, more than we could expect. Quick check with Hanzo and Genji descriptions put us on trail of fate of Shimada clan. Both of them were made scions ment to rule the clan with Hanzo as head and Genji being second in comand. And just like on story blue dragon got into a fight with his brother that shook earth and sky. Fron clues we know Genji wasnt too serious about his Yakuza heritage. But fooling around shouldnt lead to execution by his brother.
My theory is that Genji got involved with Hashimoto. We know he was going to clubs and in Kazenaka we have Tora club - headqauater of Hashimoto. Rumors started that he is traitor and Hanzo was forced to punish him. But he felt wrong for doing so as some members of Shimadas. That could lead to falloff between branches and significant weaking of clan. Hanzo leaving position as leader could be fatal. That would explain why other gang just rules turf so close to main Headquater of their rivals for years.
Genji is rescued by Overwatch which tried to dismantle Shimadas creating power vaccum for other clans to swpie in. Menwhile our ninja recovered, got new body and got hired as blackwatch operative. He yearned revange and dealed with self hatred for what he become. Finally leaving Blackwatch to pursue his brother led him to Zenyatta and being reborn as Genji we know and mada mada.
He get to reunite with Hanzo during dragons giving his brother way for redemption.
Story ends with Blue dragon abdoning his form and becoming human reunited with brother. That means Hanzo will get painful lesson in humility in the future. Maybe becoming cyborg too.
As for vigilantie in Kanezaka maybe it was Genji. He was around and decited to do something good for people and his old master.
