Shatter needs a nerf

Rein has already an EXTREMELY strong base kit (massive shield, massive HP pool with A LOT of armor in it!), he also has Steadfast and something like ~100 DPS with AoE damage.

His shatter should either

  • charge more slowly (particularly after you land 1 shatter you can build 40%+ of the next one off of the shattered enemies)
  • NOT GO AROUND DAMN WALLS and have a shattered target LoS check and not be server sided (same as how Roadhog Hook was fixed). No more shattering behind walls.

Yeah I feel like Earthshatter is a bit too forgiving for the Reinhardt. But the forums are Reinhardt stannies and will cancel you if you try to suggest he needs a nerf.

It needs more fixes than it does nerfs to me. I think shatter is fine and it’s relatively easy to sense when it’s coming given the audio cues.

its impossible to react to it. its too fast.

either make the animation longer, or make the cone smaller (the cone is actually bigger than the g round hitbox. which is stupid as hell and been this way for years)

its easily the best tank ultimate in the game. zarya isn’t as good because rein can just put his barrier up when he gets zarya ulted to protect his team and rein is in every game.

You do realize how many things actually block/ counter it right? The skill is absolute trash. I love playing main tank and baiting shatter… the animation time on it is so slow that a good mcree can cancel it before it hits the ground too. Heck Zarya’s bubble completely blocks shatter and shields everyone behind her from being hit by it too.

Yeah no… the animation is extremely slow. A shield tank has more than enough time to deploy their shield long before his hammer actually hits the ground.

Why you need see the visual hitbox?? Is easy. If you team dont have a shield to block the enemy shatter, maybe all you team will get stun.

I think it would be nice if Reinhardt couldn’t actually get ult charge off his shatter victims, or maybe couldn’t even follow up on them himself. Shatter is too much of a team wipe as it is.

The problem is that shatter hard penalize you team if you dont have a shield…

Those mechanics just limite the diversity. We dont needs hardcounters.

Nanoblade is 10x more powerful than shatter. It doesn’t chancel w ANY stun, shield doesn’t counter it, and you can’t escape because after every kill he gets a shift.

I think it’s biggest problem at the moment is that you basically need a mirror rein to counter it. Orisa sig CAN work, but atm he’s basically better than both of them put together.
Had far too many games with the tanks both insisting on playing off tanks, and almost every time the enemy rein got shatter, it was a team wipe. It’s their fault for not changing according, but it does kinda suck that he makes double off tank almost unusable (mainly because it’s way more fun and everyone is sick of double shield).

If they Nerf rein I’m not gonna play main tank anymore, and I will instapick Zarya every game.

I’m pretty sure the animation gives one the time to react to it.

Because their is many times where people have been hit and it makes no sense. With a full visual effect shown. We can see if the game failed us, or people could actually figure out how high it is. So characters like Genji and Pharah can wait at the last moment to jump. Same goes for other area ultimates. Sombra’s visual EMP wave is lying to the player.

It hits you before the effect actually does. I’ve even seen people in OWL outside the effects radius, and still be counted, during replay videos. I’ve been outside the visual and still be hit. Properly time everything and match the visual size. They can also use this to help fix problematic areas of maps. Like on hills and stuff. Also, being hit in the air, as a hovering Pharah looks stupid as hell. When there’s no shockwave. Either do a energy wave that visually shows the cone. Or just do Hulk Smash and make rocks fly up.

The animation is fine there is enough time to interrupt, and it is fair.
