Shatter blocking tips?

So many times, so many times I get that feeling, where I “know” the enemy rein has shatter, but I still get hit anyways because I can’t properly bait it… help?

Barriers, Sleep Dart, Hook, Rocket Punch, Air time (basically need to be at least 6-ish meters above the ground, or a double-jump height); Whole Hog, Gravitic Flux, Freeze/Blizzard, Hack/EMP.

If you or your team gets grounded by Earthshatter, there are still methods to avoid too much damage, including Transcendence and Coalescence to keep the team alive long enough to recover. Sound Barrier also works well here.

What are you playing?

The German charater with the shield.

Ah, so Rein v Rein tips then. Let your barrier get low, almost broken (around 300-400) then drop it. They usually go for it then when they see your cracked barrier drop, so flash it back up when they drop barrier. Also, pretending to turn away then flashing back works too. You could also let your barrier break, but communicate with your Zarya for her to bubble you and block it that way.

There is a delay when enemy Rein uses his ability, gives a sound cue, and the shatter actually happens. Just use your reaction speed to press right click in that time.

For some reason I get the uncontrollable urge to try and pin him mid shatter.

I’m an idiot I know.

Interesting strategy, bet your team loves that lol

A cool way some players do (if you play o. pc or use a high sens) is they turn around, wait just a little so the enemy rein see the opportunity and then turn around again. This also works by letting your shield go and be aware for the shatter. But come on a 180 plus another 180 is much cooler. You can also kinda pretend your shield got destroyed by taking it out when it’s low health. The enemy rein will think it got destroyed but it did not

In a team fight, ask your team to focus his shield, if your shield breaks first, try to get a cover. If you now that the enemy rein has shatter, always look to your position.

A strategy to bait his shatter that i know(+the quote above ^) is play scared, like your shield will break soon, then, he’ll try to shatter then you can block, reaction comes with practice. One more thing, never allows the enemy to destroy your shield

If you know he has shatter do not throw firestrike because you cant animation cancel it to shield and he can shatter you while you are throwing it. That being said, you get free shatter when you see rein throw firestrike, just dont be slow

Dont fire strike and remember shatter behaves as a projectile with travelling speed and all that, the farther you are, easier it is to block. Of course you’re rein, you don’t want to stand in Narnia hugging your widow, so stay frontline but don’t jump the Rein’s face, if you must pressure them for space with your hammer swings, do so from max range (~5 meters).

that is actually a viable strat. when your shield is getting low and know your shield will break before his will, then what you can do in the little time you have left is actually walk up to the rein with your shield up until you are real close (within about 4 meters). then charge him. most likely you will cancel his ult cast unless you somehow get stunned by someone else before you pin him. so you have the right idea just make sure you are very close to the enemy rein

This is a last resort play, to use when you know your zarya or sigma have no bubbles/2nd barrier left to block it.
