Either that or Wraith Form. One of these two needs to be replaced with a more consistent and faster ability. Short-ranged flankers need to close the gap and they need to do it quickly/consistently. That’s why Tracer has blinks and Genji has Dash reset.
Both Teleport and Wraith form are slow with extremely long cooldowns. Even if you manage to get a lucky kill with teleport, you cannot follow up on it because you’ve expended your one and only engagement tool. Enemies can simply go in opposite directions, which (unlike Genji and Tracer) denies the continuation of your flank, even if you played exceptionally by killing the first target without any issues.
If we’re going to go the route of making Reaper a flanking type character, then he needs the proper tools to flank (don’t even get me started on those stupid boots). Otherwise, he’s going to remain in this state of half-tank buster, half-flanker, all useless hybrid which does nothing but cause problems with even the slightest of tweaks to his “stats” (damage, health, whatever you want to call it, just know that I’m not talking about win rate/pick rate).
reaper is fine, these 2 abilities are perfect on reaper and if you dont see that that then you need to learn your hero, i took reaper only to gm4 before the changes to hitboxes now hes even more broken, which actually led me to stop playing him, it feels like i hardly have to aim for massive dmg anymore which just sucks before i had specific places on where to aim to get max value, now i shoot over their head and all pellets land, its sucks. No the only change reaper needs is to be able to cancel out of Death Blossom and then hes perfect no other changes needed. His damage is fine his engage and disengage are fine just commit to reaper only for a week and you’ll see
Yes, because what I said was “you can’t take Reaper to GM4” and not “Reaper is horribly designed.”
Every character can reach high level play, doesn’t mean they fit well within the game.
I’m fairly certain they stopped working on that because it’s been over a year since they announced it and it’s been dead silent for more than 5 months now. Not a peep about it with multiple other reworks being released since it was announced.
I find it hard to believe that working on a visual update takes this long.
I see too many reapers doing predictable, full line of sight TP’s into the enemy backline lol, STOP DOING THAT.
Tp is great when used the right way. TPing from behind cover to an off angle in the enemy backline also behind cover is the best way to do it. Current reaper is fun and unique, he doesn’t need changes.
I usually do it when I need to contest or whatever. It’s already a hopeless situation. I do not believe Reaper is bad because of it. If anything, it’s actually one of his better traits. It takes space and baits cooldowns for free!
Just merge them into one ability, once you do Shadow Step, you go into Wraith form automatically. It’d be a good competent change that’ll only increase Reaper’s popularity among players. This change never failed, trust me
I don’t and I’m not talking about the bottom of the barrel Reaper players. I’m talking about what Reaper is capable of at his peak (imagine as if a computer was controlling him at 100% efficiency).
Also, TP is horrible even when used perfectly. You’re stuck standing still for 2.7 seconds with a big red pillar signaling to the entire enemy team where you are and where you’re going. The most efficient way to use it is to jump and then press E, so that your body floats down making it harder to shoot than if you were standing still (preferably off a ledge so that you can minimize how much of your body is exposed).
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s free, since 9 times out of 10 it gets you killed, but Reaper is basically the character meant to pull attention and self-sacrifice so close enough.
At least, that’s what the devs seemingly want to make him.
Probably for the worse seeing how they butchered Sombra… But they couldn’t do that when they were selling expensive fancy skin for Reaper. But now that the event has ended, they can butcher Reaper too. Yay!
I find it odd too that sometimes I go to shoot him when he’s in his TP animation, because I know he’s vulnerable (or should be) during it, and I just phase through him. It’s probably on me, but this seems to happen the most with Mythic Reaper…
