Severe Random Stuttering in Overwatch Since November

Hello Blizzard Support Team,

I have been experiencing severe random stuttering in Overwatch since November. These micro-freezes cause frame time spikes of up to 200ms, leading to noticeable delays. The issue occurs randomly across Quick Play, Ranked, Training Range, and Custom Games. I have thoroughly tested my hardware and software and found no issues outside of Overwatch.

System Specifications:

  • OS: Windows 11 (also tested Windows 10, clean install)
  • CPU: Intel i7-14700KF (tested with another CPU) – No thermal issues, benchmarked stable
  • Motherboard: ASRock B760 Pro RS/D4 (BIOS updated)
  • GPU: RTX 2080 (also tested with RTX 2060) – Latest drivers, no thermal issues, benchmarked stable
  • Storage: NVMe SSD, 300GB+ free space, no issues detected
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4 4000MHz (XMP enabled) – MemTest passed
  • Monitor: 360Hz Dell (DisplayPort, plugged directly into GPU)
  • Input Devices: Ducky Keyboard & Logitech G Pro Mouse (1000Hz polling rate)
  • Internet: 1Gbps Ethernet – No packet loss or connection issues (EU servers)
  • PSU: 1000W (tested with another PSU, no change)

In-Game Settings:

  • Graphics: All Low
  • NVIDIA Reflex: On + Boost
  • VSync, DX11/DX12, Triple Buffering: Tested with and without

Issue Details:

  • Since November, I have been experiencing random micro-stutters where the game momentarily freezes.
  • CapFrameX monitoring shows frame time spikes up to 200ms.
  • The issue occurs in all game modes (QP, Ranked, Training, Custom Games).
  • Other high-FPS games run flawlessly with no stuttering.
  • I have found similar reports from other players on forums and Reddit, with video evidence suggesting this is a widespread issue.
  • I also came across a related forum post here: Sttuters above certain framerate. Unfortunately, switching GPUs did not fix the issue for me. I tested with an RTX 2060, but the stuttering persists.

I have tried every possible troubleshooting step, including hardware swaps, game setting adjustments, and a fresh OS installation. Since others are experiencing similar problems, it seems likely this is an issue on the game’s end.

Here is a video showing an example of the stutter (this is a mild one, but they can be more severe):

Could you please investigate this and provide any updates on whether this issue is being addressed?

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

If you want a higher framerate without the game stuttering, set the resolution in Windows to 1080 and set the refresh rate in Windows to the highest and then delete the Overwatch folder in your documents folder. If you are using gsync, set nvidia control panel to vsync on in global (this is required to make gsync work in Overwatch). After launching Overwatch go to options and set refresh rate to the highest your monitor allows at 1080 and turn on reflex (it will cap the framerate at 225 on a 240hz monitor because of reflex and vsync) and leave all other settings alone.

i tried every setting under the sun, every forum post, reddit post, new and old to try to fix these stutters over days. i could get the stutters reduced but could never eliminate them completely. very odd because last season it was fine i didn’t have any issue, and my computer is a powerhouse, should be able to run overwatch like it’s nothing

turns out the firmware on my mouse and dongle was the problem. i updated my firmware and the stutters are gone
