"Severe" consequences for losing even in QP: Hidden MMR

According to Blizzard, “All our game modes, including Competitive, only look at MMR when forming a match.” and "We only adjust your MMR after you win or lose a game or if you come back after not playing for a long time. "

So now there is pressure and consequences for even losing a Quickplay game. Doesn’t matter your performance, you will be “ranked” if you win or lose. And winning and losing will greatly depend on your team unless your are severely smurfing.

Hidden MMR and only winning and losing counts? What a great formula. Great way to help reduce the toxicity, Blizzard.

QP has a separate MMR and also this has always been the case.

As far as I know it’s been this way since day one. If you’re getting upset about a hidden number going down that you will never ever see, that’s on you.

No. Go check the developer vlog

Uhm…what? So even “no sweat” mode is suddenly a “sweat mode”? Dude, I play QP most of the time due questionable wifi connection and other stuff…I go comp ONLY when I am sure, that my internet and my mind and skills are “fresh” for a REASON…

This is soo dumb -_-

It’s always been that way…

It’s only a sweat mod if you make it that way.

Adjusting your games based on winning or loosing is a good thing to do.

That way you’re not playing against people who are levels above you or below you.

Sounds like a personal problem.
You’re complaining because of problems that are not Blizzard’s problem.
If you have questionable wifi, you shouldn’t be playing team-based games.

What’s dumb is playing with bad wifi and getting mad that you have consequences for it.

I don´t have “bad wifi”. I have wifi, that sometimes starts to lag, when some other member of my family goes on netflix or something. The moment I start to lag - I log out. Not everybody can afford to have a perfect connection 24/7, so don´t tell me, what should and what I should not play, thanks.

Them taking data even from non comp modes to affect my comp rank? Yeah, that´s pretty much a Blizzard problem.

There’s no reason to get snippy.
I was responding with the information you gave me.
You can’t expect me to read your mind as to what you meant when you said “due questionable wifi connection”.

I was talking about the wifi problem.
Seeing as how the quote I responded to was about wifi, why did you try to change what the topic was about?

I will bite. Show me in the vlog where they say there is only 1 MMR and it is shared between all game modes. I will wait here because we both know it does not exist. Meanwhile we have been outright told directly from Jeff that QP and Comp have separate MMRs and that Comp starts by using the QP MMR as a baseline but diverges rather quickly.

I am not “snippy” and I thought you react to my post as whole.
Maybe I am just mildly annoyed of people telling me not to play, when I even mention some lags, sorry.

If that is the case anyone can just leave/throw in QP until their mmr drops and then have easy matches in comp and climb with no effort.

To me, your post came off a bit snippy, even if you didn’t mean for your post to come off that way.

In the past, when people have said “questionable wifi,” it usually means they have :poop: wi-fi, so I assumed you did too.
I apologize for assuming instead of asking for clarification.

I have asperger, I hear this all the time from people. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

There is time, when everybody is asleep and I know, that nobody is sucking on my connection - than I play comp.

The developers have already said in the past that players have separate QP and competitive MMR scores. They haven’t (AFAIK) said if the QP MMR seeds the competitive MMR, but we certainly know that once both are in place, they’re treated totally separately.

Anyone thinking the dev blog contradicts that is reading more into it than is said.

This is precisely why I only play Comp on one account. And that account isn’t used for ANYTHING else. I don’t even play games while waiting for a Comp match. It literally only has time that it took to level to 25 (back before OW2) in QP RQ. The rest of the time on that account has been spent in every single Comp RQ season.

Matchmaking still sucks though. lol

This account hasn’t been in Comp for a few years now. I just play QP RQ or OQ on this one. Or whatever I feel like. But no Comp.

QP and Arcade have become sweat modes since OW2 released. I am constantly fighting people with gold weapons coming from competitive that do all the meta characters and stomp us hard while throwing insults in chat. Gone are the days of playing for fun in this game. Now it’s just playing to stomp the other team and trash talk them while they do it, and if they aren’t stomping the other team to immediately leave.

Forced loss garbage. Just call this game Onesidedwatch already.

Uh, where do you see that only winning and losing counts? lol. Reading comprehension problems strikes again.

They have always had an MMR for QP.

…data from other modes doesn’t affect your comp rank. You have a different MMR for comp and for QP. They just have an MMR for QP so it’s not like, GM players against bronze in QP matches.
