Settings Do Not Save

Whenever I open the game, my video and audio settings go back to default, but my controls do not reset. I can’t figure out how to fix this issue. Running as admin does not solve my issue. Any other ideas?

Try this:

  1. Close OW including Launcher. 2. Navigate to My Documents and delete “Overwatch” folder. 3. Restart Launcher and OW and set your settings again.

Check if the Overwatch folder in MyDocuments or the txt file in there is in “read only”. Usually the above method works most of the time tho.

Also make sure you launch Overwatch from a Windows account with administration privileges.

Here was my solution

Delete overwatch folder in my documents
Launch overwatch from the application (not launcher) as an admin
In properties for new overwatch folder untick read only
Launch again from overwatch app as admin
Change settings
Should now be saved however you have to go through overwatch app again to make changes.

Go to “Windows Defender Security Center”
Got to “Virus & Threat protection”
Click on “Ransomeware protection”
If this is enabled it prevents applications from writing inside the “Documents” folder. You can allow apps to be excluded from this by clicking on “Allow an app through Controlled folder access”
Just wanted to let you know since I had this problem some time ago and the only help i found was to launch the app in admin mode which does nothing in this case. Hope i save some people a headache.
Maybe blizzard should change the location for those files?
