Even though I’m in Europe, Italy, logging via Steam, game connects me to Asian, Australian and Middle East servers, which causes high latency (up to 400ms), making game unplayable at all. I followed all the steps sent me by support on Blizzard website, but it didn’t help
I have the exact same issue - there is no way to avoid games where I have 200 ping in the settings, so I wait for queue and then get dropped into games that I can’t possibly win because my actions are 1.5-3 seconds delayed.
I can’t wait for Marvel Rivals.
there is something wrong with their servers
disconnections/ping spike or being placed on a wrong server
we have not gotten any sort of response from blizzard so far.
u can use to switch servers and force the game to put you in the right servers. just google it,
Can’t believe this keeps coming up, but as a reminder:
Do not use third-party tools with Overwatch as you may be risking your account.
Unfortunately, routing is handled by your ISP, not Blizzard. If they are not providing a direct route to your closest server, only they can help.
stop blaming it on the ISP, numerous reports from different players in different countries are having the same problem, including me. I play on the middle eastern servers and lately I’m being placed in European servers… not to mention the constant “lost connection to game server”.
If you have no permissions to deal with such issues, Inform a specialist from Blizzard and let the people know what is going on instead of posting the same script on every topic.
They already looked into it and there was nothing to report. No one in my matches is reporting these issues either, only a handful on the forums and Reddit.
FLATS is also facing the same issue…
still think there is no issue with ow servers?
it is clearly something wrong with OW servers
the comments on that video is more than enough for them to notice but they blame it on the ISPs lmao
it is your router, please replace it ![]()
Someone on the internet experiencing lag to one service doesn’t make any definitive statement about the server. I can go download something in the background and play Overwatch, which will cause me to lag. There could literally be hundreds of reasons someone has a temporary spike in latency like that video. Maybe Windows was downloading a quick update, or Steam.
I get it; you have a connection problem to Overwatch and believe every server has problems because a handful of other people are also reporting lag. You’ve shared your thoughts on every connection-related thread to place blame on the servers. Has that effort fixed the issue for you? There’s no reason to continue adding that negativity to everyone else’s thread.
Again, it’s just me providing support — on a volunteer basis — in this forum, and I’ve read your complaints and already escalated them. There was nothing to report back.
Nicole, please Watch the video before you reply
IT is clearly showing Flats being placed on sydney servers. exactly like what OP mentioned, this has Nothing to do with LAG. whatsoever,
it clearly shows OW Servers are having issues assigning users the right servers for their region
And again, the servers only look at where your connection is coming from. They don’t wildly assign you to a random server. They place you where the best ping will be, which is usually your closest server. If you land somewhere else it’s because there was momentary lag inside the ISP network or bad routing. That’s why a VPN can clear up a bad route.
There are probably guides to explain internet routing failures on YouTube, which you may find helpful.
okay fine, so why are users complaining the same issue when they are from different countries?
all of the ISP has “lag” & " bad route" at the same time?
Different isps? all over the world?,AU,EU,NA,asia reported being routed to the wrong servers
could it be there is something within blizzard’s end that is causing this? maybe???
The reports here are not all experiencing the issue at the exact same moment. And yes, to answer your question about the general infrastructure of the internet, it is possible 100s of ISPs are having problems at the same time. This becomes even more common when many ISPs in one region use the same route out of their country. Most countries only have one to three routes outside their boundaries, with exception to incredibly large countries like Australia, the United States, China, or Russia. But even then, many of those routes are reserved for specific types of traffic, not gaming.
Edit: Additionally, many ISPs all over the world throttle gaming traffic. It puts enormous strain on their networks to have a constant data exchange for games.
OK fair enough, would you be so kind to nudge blizz’s infra support staff to have another look? ![]()
They provide alerts to me when there is an ongoing issue.
Been a bit since I came here, but my network/router is not the issue. I play Call of Duty, Counterstrike, and a host of other multiplayer games and this has never happened.
For reference, I run a Unifi network (entirely) on physical switches and have AT&T Fiber. I use Cloudflare for DNS.
The simplest solution to that is really to add one option into the game menus - “Region preference”, which honestly is a strange idea since I’m queueing into the NA region to begin with. Unless you’re specifically asking to go to Asian or EU servers, there should be no option to route you to them at all because of your ‘preferences’.
Ironically, if I play with friends who are fortunately getting into NA lobbies without any challenge, then I queue right into their servers with minimal ping (sub 50ms every time).
If every multiplayer game I play, and I play a lot, can queue me into local servers in NA and Overwatch fails to, then it’s not an issue of “oh it’s your internet/router” - especially in the case of Call of Duty which presumably uses the same Activision network components for edge networking.
Please escalate because I can assure you just because people aren’t complaining doesn’t mean it is not happening with regularity. The few of us that make it to the forums to talk about it is not at all indicative of what is actually happening.
Have this issue even in OW1. Usually restarting the game would put u in correct region. I wish there was server locator like Valorant & Apex Legend has.
