I saw in a old topic that the nearest server to players in east coast is located at Chicago.
That information is true? If it’s true, why we don’t have a server more close to Atlantic coast?
Living in Florida and server located in Chicago just do my latency higher.
I’m a Xbox player.
Thanks.
It is true, the only two North American locations are in Irvine, California and in Chicago, Illinois. Typically players who connect to their closest server should not see more than 60 milliseconds on the LATENCY stat unless there is another problem with their connection route.
My latency it’s around 85ms
Blizz just going to ignore the fact players in florida get 70-90ping on the best possible connection for them.
So anyone know if they increased the number of server locations? Moving to florida soon and dont want high ping
They have not increased the number of servers. I am in Florida and my ping to Chicago is 76ms.
guess thats not too bad… right now where i live, ping is around 40ms
EDIT: Almost forgot to say thank you. I appreciate the reply
I think it might be possible to trim a bit off the ping (depending on where in Florida you’re moving, of course), by using a VPN. They aren’t officially supported, but they do allow them.
i live in virginia. my ms averages 76. its closer to the closest server than florida but i get the same amount of lag? but when i play a game from your parent company (activision) its like 40ms. cmon guys, update yo shizz

Overwatch latency will vary depending on what server matchmaking places you on. There are a number of servers available. The game will generally prioritize whichever one is closest but may expand the search to lower queue times.
Keep in mind the biggest factor in latency tends to be physical distance which isn’t something any ISP or Gaming Company will not be able to control.
If there are any problems related to latency fluctuating unexpectedly, packet loss, network icons, or similar please create a new thread.
