I am based in Western Europe and when I am put into a game in Western Europe I don’t have any issues. Whenever I connect to a Russian game or Eastern European game in any game mode (yes, this includes competitive) my latency spikes so high that it is physically impossible to play the game. A repeatable example of this is: it’s impossible to use junkrats concussion mines to boost yourself because the delay causes them to explode LONG after you secondary fired.
Can you please let me know what Blizzard are planning on doing about this? This issue ruins 25%-50% of games in any game mode and it is incredibly frustrating. This issue has caused alot of European players to stop playing.
I honestly don’t care about any language differences (that’s what in game commands are for, right?). I just want to be able to play the game I have spent time and money on.
At this point it is so broken that I can’t play competitive, and I know lots of other people are struggling with this issue.
This felt like the best place to post this as Blizzard needs to either create a separate server for Western Europe, or find a work around that fixes the issue.
Running at ~30ms Latency in Western European games.
Running at ~200+ms Latency in Eastern European games.
Running on Windows PC.
I am having the exact same issue, consistently losing Sr because of it. I don’t understand how we keep getting connected to these games when Russia is just as far as America I genuinely don’t understand how its fair or how Blizzard expect us to play games or stop European throwers and trolls when a significant amount of them are throwing FOR THIS EXACT REASON. if Blizzard doesn’t do something soon i know just how many people will be Unable to play, and unwilling to.
Blizzard servers connect you to the closest server based on the last hop in your connection. So if you’re hopping between servers, this would be the fault of your ISP or their routing partners, as they decide the route you take to Blizzard.
We are currently running trace routes at these moments to prove that this is a blizzard issue. Once we have gathered a reasonable amount of proof I will provide this to you and can record videos of the moments this happen if this would be beneficial. I would like to know what blizzard will do once we have proved this, however.
We’ve actually checked, and we are only connecting to one of the european servers. We get a good connection to both. This issue only occurs when we are connected to a game where 50% or more of the players are from East Europe or Russia.
Okay, I didn’t realize you were talking about the other players in your team being from a server far away – you only mentioned being connected to servers far away. I imagine this happens when there are not enough players in your region for queue times to be reasonable. You can submit a ticket if you want to communicate with staff directly about how this affects your gameplay.
Yeah, sorry about the confusion, it’s hard to explain the issue. How do I submit a ticket? Because this has caused our SR to drop significantly when we’re placed in these games at competitive level. Also is there any way to change the settings to make it so that you can prefer strong connections? Because I don’t mind waiting even 10 minutes for a game if it means I can actually play it!
