Server Connectivity Issues Mid-Match

Hi All!

I’ve recently been experiencing connectivity issues mid match when playing and I’ve suffered bans as a result.

This issue had only become apparent around 21-08-2026, where I would be playing in my group then after the first point(or near 4 minutes into the match) I would often lose connectivity last among other players (enemy team included).

Typically I have seen in the past when experiencing connectivity issues, I’ve seen players “phase” through walls or fall through the floor - none of this had occurred, just simply “ loss connection to game server ”. Note: during this time, players in the ANZ Region were being pushed to GSG1, instead of SYD1 / SYD2 Servers. During these “loss connectivity to game server” all of these events have happened on SYD2.

Multiple people in my match have also experienced the exact same issues with varying pc specifications (e.g Nvidia GPU + AMD CPUs / AMD GPU + AMD CPU / Intel + AMD CPUs.

I’ve contact these people as well that were experiencing issues and have confirmed out customer facing connectivity has been ruled out as a result.

For reference I’ve followed the following below (also for those technically minded):

  • Reinstallation of Overwatch
  • Reinstallation of Network Drivers
  • Verified the integrity of game files (pre + post reinstall)
  • Changing networking mediums (Wired → Wireless)
    • In addition to this I’ve also tested this on another computer with a completely different network, cabling and system specifications
  • Monitoring network statistics to 9.9.9.9 | 1.1.1.1 | 8.8.8.8 (including packet loss)
    • I’m using a business grade connection with 99.95% SLA ( with a high of 80ms / 0% packet loss ).

Has anyone got any additional information or fixes for this issue?

I’m aware of techniques to block certain servers at the network level either by firewall rules or external tooling using these have not resolved the issue either (Attempting to get pushed to another server(GSG1/SYD1)

See attached log file from my last session which indicates Overwatch’s Auth server is failing to retrieve my credentials either locally or is unable to reach the auth server.

Updating this post as a potential Solution

It appears after some testing, voice chat appeared to be the issue for a lot of the disconnections - confirmation from other users experiencing the same issue after the life weaver grip update had also reported the solution below was correct.

To check if you’re experiencing this issue:

  • Check log files to verify you’re having the voice chat issue.
    • Located in Documents\Overwatch\Logs\Overwatch.log
  • Search for lines related to Credentials, Shutdown or Force Destroy

Should you see errors related to Credentials failed 3 change the following settings:

Options → Sounds → Voice Chat

GROUP VOICE CHAT: OFF
TEAM VOICE CHAT: OFF
MATCH VOICE CHAT: OFF
AUTO-JOIN POST MATCH VOICE:OFF

Same issue but it started today. Five times already in the past 3 hrs that I have played. To top it off, I got 2 suspension because of it. I have read the other post (excuses) that bliz has posted …maybe… the problem, except my wife is playing WOW and she has NOT had a problem staying on line. Is there a fix??
