Blizzard can you seriously not make an mmr that is decent? Comp match. My team. Top kills. 3. The other team LEAST kills from a mercy healer. 11. Their TOP kills. 35. Their other teammates. 31, 24, etc. kills Again. MY TEAMS top kills 3. How is this even possible in a comp fps mmr?

Win a game is a challenge impossible to achieve
Thereâs no place for hidden MMR variables in a competitive game. If itâs casual, itâs alright as itâs the only way to make somewhat balanced lobbies most of the time. But Blizzard has never done the full commitment to competitive, and now theyâre 100 percent committed to casuals but they still donât want people to think of Overwatch as a casual game. Thatâs because casual games donât last without proper content updates.

People just refuse to follow business logic where business logic need apply. The grind is what keeps people logging in and time spent in the game statistically increases the chances of purchases (battle pass or cosmetics from the store). If the ranked system was efficient it would result in a quick and sharp drop in the number of players. Thereâs no easy way to prove this because Blizzard isnât known for being honest and transparent (in fact the opposite has been true for over a decade). All we know is how it feels, and the grind feels much more difficult and time consuming now than it has when OW2 was released. Gone are the videos of unranked to GM in a few hours of gameplay, now you need hundreds of hours just to get to the top of the Diamond range, and Masters is a mess.

Not saying some matches are just stupid busted with an SR spread of like silver 5 to plat 1 or something dumb with zero transparency on whoâs what rank or whoâs grouped etc etcâŚ
but judging games just because the DPS on one team have 30 elims and the DPS on the other team has 3 elims doesnât mean the match wasnât fair. We need transparency back again. I wanna be able to see how old your account is, your SR the last 10 seasons at least / comp game total - and the MOST important thing is I want VISIBLE SR numbers straight on the tab menu for everyone + the avg SR of each team⌠Even IF the mm is broken then at least with transparency 99% of the conspiracy theories can just die and we can see where to point fingers most of the time.
for example this guys original post we can only assume the DPS were mis matched but it mighta just been a legit match and well matched but his team just sh*t the bed all on their own. We wouldnât know cuz we canât see peoples SR. So dumb.
How do you find your SR?

Basically a bronze 5 in OW2 was 1000 SR⌠here Iâll break it down
B5: 1000-1099
B4: 1100-1199
B3: 1200-1299
B2: 1300-1399
B1: 1400-1499
⌠This pattern continues through GM⌠so silver is gonna be 1500-1999
gold would be 2000-2499
plat 2500-2999
diamond 3000-3499
Master 3500-3999
GM 4k+
SR as we used to know it doesnât exist anymore obviously. I guess the best you can do is if you click competitive then click competitive progress I think it shows you your current rank and % so for example if you are plat 3 at 77% your âSRâ would be 2777.
In OW1 we used to be able to see every ones exact SR. The got rid of it for no stated reason but everyone likes to say itâs to protect peoples feelings from being flamed when people wanna make fun of you for your SR but I donât buy that reason.
as a tank in comp I get 2 DPS who will have 1k dmg each and the opponent DPS will each have 8k

It isnât really hidden though. As they said it now mirrors your rank %. And most matches are matched within reasonable tolerances. People just suck sometimes and play badly.

It doesnât, and they explained that visual rank always trails MMR, the lower the confidence factor for your visual rank, the further they are apart. The visual rank resets and the variables used for matchmaking have completely screwed the ladder to the point where brute-forcing your rank progression is now impossibly hard even for long time top 500 players and former pro players, let alone someone who is slowly improving their skills. Meanwhile, there are quite a few players (myself included) who have accounts in multiple ranks, some donât even budge in rank and others fly up and refuse to go down even if you chill in your games.

Straight from the horses mouth. So yes it does. Now, you can say you donât like what your MMR is, or that you think matches are poor quality. But it is factual that MMR/rank are now linked.
Same. That is because I can do enough to survive in a higher rank, but not enough to carry in a lower rank. Doesnât mean my rank or MMR are wrong. The reason we have an account âstuckâ (they are never stuck) lower than another account is not because some system fault. Whether you like said system or not, that is your opinion to have.

As for you considering a system that measures the skill (assigns a skill rating, or MMR) to the SAME PLAYER as MULTIPLE DIFFERENT VALUES in a wide range as a good systemâŚI think you need to take a good look at your reasoning. A good system would have some small variation between evaluations given a reasonable amount of data on each account of a given player, but you seem to think a system that places you at 4000, 3200, 2800, 2500, 2200 SR (the range is close to that of my accounts) is somehow a good system. I too have multiple accounts and are all different ranks right now. One account that I havent played in like 3 months is randomly banned too.
I guess it is easy just to say they are lying to you when you donât like the answer.
It doesnât measure the skill. It simply gives you a number that goes up and down as you win and lose.
Have a different number (rank) on a different account? Probably havenât won/lost the same amount of matches.
I havenât said whether I think it is good or bad. It just does what it does. Has no impact on my ability to enjoy playing the game.
If I want the number to be higher, I will go back to grinding the game. Work on improving my skills and fixing mistakes and climb. Iâve been there, done that. For now I am happy to just play with friends. Some games are good. Some suck. Online multiplayers be like that.
Youâre so inconsistent in your reasoning that itâs worrisome. Read what you wrote, maybe you just like to BS every post you make and argue for the sake of being an opposing party in every matter. The ranked system either gives you the same rank for any account where you play over 50 matches in a season or it doesnât. If it doesnât then logic dictates your rank is arbitrary rather than determined by skill. If the ranked system is bad, then the game isnât competitive at all. If the hero balance is bad, even less so.
Itâs amazing how many people think this turd of a game is good when all evidence points to the contrary. Iâd understand if you were on payroll but otherwiseâŚ
Depends how many games you win. It isnât a âskillâ rating in the literal sense.
As per the above, it is determined by wins. But you need skill (and improving said skill) to win more and keep climbing. So it is an accurate representation (for normal non-cheating players obviously) of where their skills lie. But the skills is winning the match, not what you probably want it to be. You donât have to be the best player to hit rank 1. You just have to know how to maximise the skills you have and maximise the win conditions in each match.
For some, that is picking Widow and clicking heads. For others that is the scummy act of minmaxing a stack to give yourself the best chance.
If you think the system is bad, fair enough. I am not going to agree with you, I am also not going to tell you it is great. It just exists. Balance, is just something that will always change and never please everyone. I donât really give it much attention anymore.
