Seriously, how do you win ranked games?

it whas more as a joke
and in lower ranks you need sometimes good teamates to win
i dont say you always win with good team mates but it helps

You need to find several characters you like, and honestly, one should be a tank of some kind and one healer at least. Everyone is going to have to flex more than those of us who took it on originally, best to get ahead of the curve.

PS: Reinhardt charging recklessly has gotten signficantly worse, I am not sure why but from what I gather because one guy in OWL is very aggressive with Rein now all the noobs think they too are legitimately playing Rein saying things like "i hAZ GOtZ aLL gOLDz fORz dAMAGEz AND eLimS wHATz dpSz DOINGz?! when they are not creating any real space for the DPS to use, just feeding.

You win by hoping supporting your snipers better than the enemy supports theirs.
Skill is otherwise 90% irrelevant. Unless you’re a sniper. Or Hog.

Moira has no utility. She can only heal. I think, you don’t know what utility in this game means. Moira is essentially a soft throwpick in ranks where Anas hit their shots.

You can do that with the other supports too.

Or just throw harmony orb, hit them with Ana, throw a projectile with Baptiste, fly to them with Mercy, etc…

Actually, you learn that with every hero you play.

Flashbang, headi and he dies as well <:
Even when deflecting, you just have to throw it outside of the hitbox.
Moira is just able to hit him while deflecting. But other heroes can do that as well.

Lol, you can easily climb by only playing Sym. Sym is anywhere close to being bad at your rank.

Edit: Also, Sombra isn’t all that great in gold, unless you can actually track. Hacking a gold player has waaay less effect than hacking a gm player.

Ah yes! Let our new entrant hit Headshots right away!

If you hate Moira just let it on.

I love her and she works.

N E X T

I am talking objectively about her. I don’t hate her since I also enjoy playing her (in fact, I love to play most heroes), but she is the worst main healer. 0 utility which is her main problem.
We can see that you love her, but by becoming sarcastic you are not strengthening your argument. In fact, you didn’t give me any new reason why Moira is a good recommendation.

I just don’t want to recommend our newbie a hero that is only useful until about mid plat (where you also win ez 1vs against those Gengus).

that’s not true. you need to actually develop game sense as ur one tricking said hero. and you generally need to know how to flex at least one character from each category…

Actually Sym is bad at any rank. It’s just that the opponents are worse.

Keep telling yourself that

Then tell us why she is not bad. It’s like the attack torb: simply not an optimal choice in comparison to most other dps heroes.
Winnable, but with a handicap.

i don’t get the question. i did buy this game last christmas and has played it a bit, but has only really played it late last month since i was pretty much off the net until April.
EDIT: oh wait nvm you meant other platform as in PS4 or XBOX or something? then no, i never played on those platforms.

Moira feels cheap tho… I just feel like i won’t improve if i play her every game. And i’m still getting used to Ana and Zen since i’m not used to projectiles in FPS games. And do you seriously listen to that? i actually feel very uncomfortable on that weird one tune keyboard
part lol

Thankfully i don’t get these kinds of people often. Rage quitters tho…

Yeah i feel most comfortable playing Orisa, but people in my matches always nag me to pick Rein over her instead, so iunno. Hamster ball is fun too but i’m still not used to his momentum yet, kept missing the chance to do the slam thingy.

Yeah pretty much why i use Sombra. Snipers at my rank CAN score constant head shots from afar, but sucks really hard when they got ambushed.

personally i like her because she can hold choke points really well, and her turret thingy works well against Genji which is a problem in my rank where people can’t aim for s**t.

You win ranked games by tossing a coin.

Overwatch matches are a random coin-toss.

As much as i want to believe that i don’t lol

I guess the team match up is a coin toss, but that’s also true in every other competitive game. I still feel like i can climb if i actually get better, even with the occassional RNG.

I hear you can climb when you got 50% wins but the secret is to play A LOT.

So Moira’s utility is… damage?..

Looking at your profile, for a newbie, your hero pool is way too large.

The reason so few switch is because those are legitimately the only heroes they’re good enough at to bring into ranked. If you have too many in your hero pool, there’s no possible way for you to actually be good enough in any one of them to carry a game.

Pick a hero, just one, and play nothing but that hero until you’re good enough to consistently win. As you’re good enough on that hero to carry a team that’s dragging you down.

Once you’re able to do that in gold, congratulations, you meet the MINIMUM of what it takes to play comp. Only then can you add a second hero to your roster.

Thing is, few want to go through that hell again to master a second hero, so they decide to refine the one they already have and one trick their way up.

If you were to go the way you are now, a gold one trick will kick your fresh behind regardless of which hero you pick.

That’s the nature of the match making system. In other games, you get put in with randoms, so you look at the screen and see your name consistently among the top 3 out of 64 players. That’s because the other 45 players are cannon fodder to you.

In OW, it’s like you take the players within 3 ranks of your place on the scoreboard and put them in one room, you’re suddenly average.

Not exactly encouraging when you go from carrying games, to losing half your games. Eventually you get jaded and stop caring about the wins because no matter how well or badly you performed, the system will always try to balance your win probability at around 50%.

No, in competitive games your skill as a player actually matters. You know, games which have an actual scoreboard.

In Overwatch every match is literally a dice roll. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, in fact it’s Overwatch’s biggest strength. Casual appeal is what made OW sell well in the first place and people often seem to forget that. Quirky unique heroes (who are impossible to balance) and cheesy frequent ultimates add a lot of unpredictability and fun.

There are already plenty of serious competitive games out there. Overwatch is what you play when you want to relax and mess around.

Stick to one high damage hero, don’t use comms, don’t care for team, NEVER flex.

Your goal is to get max kills per match.

This will either allow you to win the match, or have a good performance in case of defeat. Means you’ll gain some 24 SR per win and lose some 12 SR per defeat.

Will get you to mid Plat.

I recommend DVa (big HP, high mobility and good potential against many DPS and support heroes that are run at low ranks - she will, for example, allow you to kill that Pharah that low rank hitscans simply cannot hit)

If you like fast paced play and have good reflexes, one-trick Tracer instead - she is the poster girl, so has zero counters and can totally dominate anyone, be it a DPS, Tank or Support.

Maybe you should mean it in a bad way. Every match (in theory, not in reality) being different just because of limitless RNG, whose existence is anchored in equally limitless development incompetence… is not a good trait.
