They’re too busy counting their money as they make new skins to sell in loot boxes. Cut them some slack.
Microsoft said that they are able to tell who is abusing XIM4 etc and who is playing with controller.
So i dont know why Sony couldnt do that aswell and then Blizzard as developers would ban this from their game.
I agree this is a problem that needs to be dealt with, it’s obvious who is using M+KB and it should be classified as cheating.
You want to use m+kb? Then play on PC and stop ruining the game for the rest of us.
Ain’t nothing they can do about it except allow a standard usb keyboard and mouse to even the playing field.
Regardless of what they do to those using adapters, they’re gonna find an easy way around it and be back at the top of the leader boards.
Sony even sell their own version of a Mouse and Keyboard adapter. I doubt Sony will allow game developers to disable those adapters in their game.
I did not know this. Do they allow game developers to disable them?
Iam not sure how it progressed, last thing i read was that they have program which detects it immediately.
Microsoft and Sony should give a choice to developer of every game if they want to allow it or not imo.
But they don’t, they only care about cash.
It will be incredibly akward if in one day, sony gives the decision to developers and Jeff; despite his comment that he is against it, wouldnt use that feature.
How would they go about this?
“Remove M+KB on console” … Yea they totally should employ a cpl of thousand special force squads that go into ppls homes and remove them evil input devices from their machines.
They can also remove any monitor that goes above 17", mechanical keyboards, diy keyboards, high dpi gaming mice, gaming chairs and anything else that might give some sort of advantage over the poor average internet user while they are at it.
A developer very much can do it. I contacted Sony about this very thing, and posted it in a much older thread. It’s the 2nd half of the conversation:
They do give the developer that choice actually!
THIS NEEDS GO OUT AND IN BIG TIME!!!
Jeff stated he hates MNK on consoles but he is unable to solve it. We now need to show him this everywhere he goes, battle can be won.
Can you create a megathread or something? I can support you as long as i need to get the answer.
Here you go!
I never suggested they do this. This is a problem that can absolutely get solved programmatically through code. The input device a player is using is observable. You could simply ban certain input devices.
i’m going to report the people who have better keyboards/mice and monitors with higher refresh rates than me. we should also ban controllers on PC.
Honestly, smurfs are the biggest issue on console for me. It’s to the point that I rarely have a diamond or masters match without at least one smurf.
And don’t even get me started on boosters. I had two friends boosting accounts this past weekend, and I don’t even have a big friends list. And last night I was playing against a master Hanzo player that had previously been a gold and plat Mercy every season until this one. When asked, they said they were playing on a friend’s account…lol.
Interesting. At high SR, this isn’t really a problem. Almost every game has GMs/Top500s, what do I care if there’s another t500 in the game but in a masters acct?
However the M+KB issue is without a doubt the biggest problem. Very frustrating to play against people with an obvious and impactful edge.
No it can not.
You’re literally making this up. Do you have any evidence here?
Even if no data identifying the input device is passed to the server, it wouldn’t be a difficult CS problem to detect KB+M users. Just look at movement patterns. KB users can only move in 45 degree angles after normalizing for mouse movements. Controller users have a greater degree of mobility. It would be trivial to write a few lines of code identifying KB+M users.
