"Serious" considerations about April fool's patch

Premise: I don’t believe at all that these changes have the characteristics of being introduced 100% in PvP balance. but as always they give us excellent reflections on an alternative balance or a future game mechanic:

  1. Mauga’s mechanic on lighting fire on enemies in a positive streak seems to me to be an interesting point to consider. it’s not a serious buff but… maybe giving a little extra on how to set opponents on fire in the future can be useful if we have other subpar performance problems for Mauga :fire:;
  2. the barrier that repels Reinhardt’s bullets and the click timing necessary for a perfect Genji parry, in my opinion can have an interesting idea, they could be perfect mechanics… for Brigitte’s bash. I’m sorry to say it, but Brigitte, in addition to desperately needing to fix the bugs on the shield that doesn’t correctly block damage splashes perfectly aligned in front of her (like a d.va bomb)… her bash in ow2 has lost a bit feeling that she’s bodyguarding whoever she’s protecting, especially when the shield’s HP is terribly low as if she’s holding a pizza box where he constantly mentions “oh, it’s breaking” :boom:. a parry/deflect feel to bash in my opinion would be really interesting to give brigitte her bodyguard utility back… without abusing bash’s old cc. It’s just a theory, of course, it could still be interesting for future concept art.
  3. Let’s talk about the single ice evoked by Mei: it has very good interactive potential, from the point of view of simplifying her kit. one thing I’ve always hated about item summoning abilities (symmetra tp or mei wall) is that they are techniques that require more time rather than more reactivity, something we’ve already seen simplified in the past with torb turrets and symmetra with a simple launch. Maybe not for me, but I think a solid platform that can be summoned for immediate personal elevation is very interesting for a future hero who wouldn’t necessarily require lifeweaver, and would still create an annoying encumbrance for the enemy. or maybe for some future Mei arcades in winter wonderland :ice_cube: ;
  4. I like the creativity around Symmetra’s TP :cyclone:, that is, focusing on the destination and the reachability it has in the battle for everyone, it can be an interesting starting point for Symmetra even just in a more creative arcade context (like Battle for Olympus). I’ve given a little feedback in the past about how we can still play around with the symmetra TP to make it more responsive in the destination more immediately, but it’s great to see an interest in it, and I’d always like to see it enhanced. and… I still continue to think that it no longer makes sense to make it a destructible ability when the destination TP moves away from the starting one, for example by summoning it on a VOlskaya Industries mobile platform: it can only enhance the potential of the TP a little maps with particular characteristics with platforms with automatic mobility.
  5. I noticed that for the umpteenth time you give Pharah the same ability to immediately land from crouch, it’s been happening since the first experimental patch notes of OW1. are you perhaps experimenting something for the space ranger, who is supposed to be a future new flying hero? :butterfly:
  6. Tracer’s flashback… it’s an artistic masterpiece! Definitely use it for a future arcade battle pass event, maybe for a story or movie theme :film_strip: :muscle:!
  7. Ana’s sleep is silly but… the fall damage could be a nice reward for Ana when she throws it at flying enemies like Pharah or Echo; let’s keep an eye on this logic, if not for her… for other heroes with future cc abilities.
  8. illari which is enhanced with maps with sun is very beautiful in terms of detail, I would save it for any arcade modes that create meteorological variations in the map :sun_behind_small_cloud:.
  9. the concatenation of Winston’s lightning in the secondary fire makes a lot of sense in my opinion. In ow2 so far I have never perceived this button as a threat, and I have never considered it a good enough buff for him :zap:.
  10. for lifeweaver I saw a bit of a waste of creative experimentation: I very often released feedback like this in which I could better help the petal platform to drastically increase the utility of this healer outside of the lifewgrip. This skill deserves some attention and tuning, it has potential that still needs to be explored in detail. :white_flower:
  11. Moira completely reversed? Fantastic and ABSOLUTELY should be used in the Overwatch reverse universe that was announced at BlizzCon! Alec, Aaron, Jared, any of you developers: USE IT for a damn arcade reverse universe :star_struck: :muscle:!

People forget that Dva’s re-mech ability doing damage was kept from a troll patch where they’ve let content creators balance the game.

yes, in fact: they are still patches that unexpectedly create quality of life ideas for current or future heroes. :muscle:

Lucio’s reverse boop has so many applications that work so well with his kit, while still making complete sense from a fantasy point of view.

Mercy feels great and also fixes the nightmare of damage boost.

I also think the mercy one was honestly kinda cool. It’s clunky cause they obviously haven’t fully implemented designs to it but honestly being able to do damage and heal at the same time is really dope and adds more depth to her kit which i think is needed especially at higher level play.

Mercy change 100% needs to go through, despite what the mercy mains think.

The mercy mafia got me already, I wouldnt push it.

I am quite sure it always dealt damage. But very little, like 25 or 50.

The “troll patch” just increased the value.

I said this in another thread, but I think the Mercy stuff would feel a lot better if she wasn’t punished for firing and healing at the same time. And also converted from a resource system to a straightforward ammo system.

I also wouldn’t straight-up dispose of blue beam. I’d eliminate the weapon swap delay and have it swap between two sets. Thinking about it a bit more, I’d go with yellow beam LMB + pistol LMB as weapon one, and blue beam LMB + pistol RMB as weapon two. Without a second beam she feels a bit basic and shallow. There’s a reason the likes of Zen has both harmony and discord, or Lucio has healing and speed.

There’s other stuff, too. For example, Bap didn’t get rewarded for landing direct RMBs on people; that was a change introduced in an April Fool’s and then later introduced for real.

I have 373 hours on her, slight ADHD and very few £$%&s left to give. I’m happy to push it

Nope, it was 0 before that

he doesn’t need anything, he’s balanced the way he is and might be OP on his rate of fire.

Just checked it…

It’s from patch deployed at April 22nd 2021…

So it dealt damage prior to this. But it was joke damage and no one cared.

It’s like we are taking crazy pills or something? How is this not an objective improvement?

I never want to hear mercy mains demand buffs ever gain after this.

I feel like a better joke buff to lw would be to have his life grip pull all teammates to you, it ignores distance and walls. Literally a “group up” button XD

Some people just get stuck with what they know and hate anything that changes. Its just how some people work. I wouldnt worry about it.

Just give petal platform a firerate or dmg boost utility like in the last halloween event.

Sombra’s virus spreading was directly from the lilith event after all and winston’s chain lightning exists in the pve.

Normally I wouldn’t, but now I’m a mercy super fan. Guess I’ve only got 6 days of fun left.

Edit: I was wrong, you’re right

Edit: disregard this!

Doesn’t change the fact, that you were right that it was first in the CC patch, and it was implemented in the game after wards. You weren’t that wrong (-;.

Especially that this 50 damage was not relevant most of the time, and people didn’t even think about it.
