Sensitivity for Tracer

I know sensitivity is subjective but is there any sensitivity/DPI amount that is common among Tracer players?

My biggest struggle is landing hits on characters with tiny hit boxes like Mercy, Baby D Va, Widow, and Ana.

I feel like turning down my sensitivity could help resolve this issue but then I’ll have the issue of constantly lifting my mouse up creating inaccuracy when I’m trying to turn around.

Is there a middle ground at all? I want to be able to land shots on smaller hit boxes easier but I also don’t want to pick up my mouse to do a 180

I Play with 4.50 Sensitivity with 1200 DPI, I don’t play Tracer a whole lot but I do know that it is fast enough (for me) to turn around in a split second, it also depends on how much room you have to move your mouse around. Hope this helps

My default is 4, but my Tracer is 6… (800 dpi)

I have to have it higher so I can blink and then 180 turn to either hit a quick bomb, or melee to finish the person.

How much space do you have in your desk? It’s generally advised low-sens IF you can space a big mat. A high sens if just fine if you can adapt.

I play with 700 DPI and 6 in-game, and can do fast movements just fine. That said, I have a big mat aswell, if my mat was smaller I would go for a higher sens.

Just make sure your mouse sensor don’t suck and go practice dat tracking!

800 DPI with 4.75 in game sense. Works fine for me.

What kind of mouse pad are you using? Believe it or not, but the surface of which you use your mouse on makes a big difference.

Certain surfaces, and mouse pads can create a ‘drag’. I use my mouse on slippery surfaces, like a magazine, glass, or aluminum. It gives my aim a more ‘snappy’ feeling. But with characters that move very fast like Tracer, i recommend a higher sensitivity.

i recommend finding a comfortable sense/dpi that allows you to easily flip 180 degrees. suuuuper important.

Search up “Overwatch dpi tool” click the first link and type your dpi and sens into the boxes and you will see that you will have pixel skipping (assuming you are playing 1080p) if the number is blue beside your chosen resolution then there will be no pixel skipping making it a way smoother experience. If it’s red you will get pixel skipping which is not enjoyable. id recommend doubling your dpi and to half your sens for a smoother experience.

Most Tracer mains have bit higher sens.

I play at 1600 x 5 = 8000 edpi

Soon plays at 7200
Sinatraa plays at 6500

The rule of thumb is this, with tracer you need to be able to track close fast moving targets. Higher sens helps a lot to do that.

Also you need to be able to do quick 180’s with absolute 0 delay. The turn should be so swift that it really shouldnt even be hard to see for the naked eye even.

I’d say keeping those as primary, adjust your sens. Lower it to a point where you could still do what i said and stop.

Then practice and get used to that sens.

I meant that you should have a low sensitivity but higher dpi rather than high sens and really low dpi. I’m ok with any edpi, I just want people to have a smoother experience. sorry if I explained my post wrong.

Pixel skipping is true in 2d environment like when windows average your mouse movement making it not true 1:1 mouse/cursor movement if not using 6/11 WPS. Its not usefull here because we dont care about high accuracy in overwatch menu which doesnt use raw input. It doesnt work the same in 3d. With the same 360/cm using high or low DPI/sensitivity you can still be able to do micro adjustment for long range shot.
