Sensitivity for support vs. DPS

Hey everyone. I’ve been playing since launch but and I figured it was finally time to step up my game and improve my aim. I’ve messed around with my sens settings and I’ve been using 400 DPI / 8 in game which has been great for playing hitscan like Cree and Ashe, but when I swap to support characters like Lucio or Brig, I find it much harder to play because I can’t easily make wide turns like I used to.

Do people play with a higher sensitivity for support heroes? I’m not sure if it’s worth it to constantly be switching around my sensitivity because I won’t be as accurate. Thanks!

Yes, it’s better to have higher sens for Brig and Lucio, but you’ll sacrifice some precision in Lucio’s case. Wall riding with low sens is terrible.

Some people do have different sense for different heroes. I used to do this for Mercy because my DPS sens is 800/3.85. I eventually just made it all the same and got used to it. It takes time, but you can adjust.

Just make sure you set your relative aim sens for Ana/Widow to 37.89 and Ashe to 51.47! (Assuming you play at max FOV and 16:9 aspect ratio)

Gotcha, thanks! Do you use a certain scale for the increased sens? For example, using 8 for DPS and 2x -> 16 for support?

wait, how do you reached those values?? Are those default for 16:9 or a calculation based on his DPI and sens?

When I used to do it, I would do about +50% extra. So 4 would become 6, etc.

For 103 FOV @ 16:9, those values bring the zoom sens to 1:1

Those are pretty common values, there’s some math behind it that I have no clue how to explain. Look up “overwatch sensitivity calculator” and you should find info about it

Well, about Brig I’d recommend something comfortable to turn your barrier 180º fast enough if necessary.

You can also do what JJonak does. That crazy man has a VERY low sens, so he uses a DPI switch on his mouse when he needs to turn quickly. It seems like a wild way to play, but he was MVP in season 1 of OWL, so it can work. :man_shrugging:

Really up to you. There are pro players doing both. I’d experiment, but it is possible to just get used to low sens. Having a sufficiently large mousepad matters though.

Also, nitpick, supports also include Ana and Zen. A lot of low sens players on those two.

It’s impossible to make it 1:1 for all turn distances, and those numbers are for a very short flick. Those numbers are a good starting point for experimentation, but 40 and 42 aren’t uncommon, and I personally run 44.
