Sensitivity and Aim Settings - Console

Can someone give me a rundown on what the meaning of all the “Advanced” settings for console aiming mean?

It’s been quite a long while since I’ve played the game, and I need to know what exactly each means.

Sure. I’m high plat on console and I play Sombra (she’s a hitscan and requires pretty decent tracking and aim)

Aim Assist- This is basically the game nudging your aim towards targets. It’s a good thing to have for controller gameplay. I keep it at 100
Aim Assist Window Size- This is how big the hitbox of the aim assist is. I had a widow main tell me that 30 is best for headshots and I’ve kept it there since.
Aim Smoothing- This is a super important setting. Having high aim smoothing cuts down on jagged movements that would give some people motion sickness at the cost of giving slower reaction times. Low aim assist gives you more freedom and higher reaction times at the cost of some pretty jagged looking movement. I’ve played with it at 100 and at 0. Both work but I found I liked 0 better after getting used to it.
Aim Ease In- This should be at 0. Slows you down a lot an isn’t advantageous.

The other settings don’t affect aim they’re just button customization

EDIT: My base sensitivity is 100/100. I’ve also used 45/75 in the past. Play around with that and see what works for you

Thanks a ton for the rundown!

I would like to ask though, what sort of settings would you recommend for character such as McCree? As Sombra’s aim can be much more lenient due to a larger clip size, you don’t particularly need to hit all the time to be effective. Whereas McCree does.

Thank you for this! I like to play Widow, Sombra, and Symmetra, even Moira and Orisa when I want to go support or tank. Do these settings tend to work for a lot of characters?

I play Mei and these settings are pretty good as well (so I’d assume McCree would be fine). The only heroes I can see them not working on are the beam and explosive heroes like Zarya, Moira, Junk and Symm because they don’t need the smaller aim assist widow (no headshot) and you could leave it at 100. And PSA these settings are a bit high in terms of sensitivity so you might need to work up to it by slowly changing
