Is there a way to send a message to a player I recently played with without sending a friend request?
A guy on the other team thought a random guy on my team was cheating because of a specific thing, and I watched the replay and wanted to point out something that indicates he probably wasn’t cheating.
I don’t want to be friends, I just had a polite back-forth before the game ended and told him I’d look at the replay and report if it looked like cheating.
I can’t figure out how to send a message…is it possible?
On console yes I think, on PC no; if you try to whisper it doesn’t work without being friends
Ah maybe that’s why I’m getting confused. I’m seeing console people talking about messaging.
I am on PC. Seems a little absurd that we can’t talk at all w/o being friends first.
Not every message is a hate message and they could be reported.
With that said, you don’t really have an obligation to reach out to this other person with your findings. It sounds like they were pretty upset if they were accusing someone of cheating. In my experience, those who claim that someone is cheating just because they are losing or getting killed by a single individual just want to be frustrated and find something to blame other than themselves.
But to put it simply, the previous person was correct, you cannot whisper anyone on PC as that goes through the battle.net platform and uses Blizzards systems for communication and any battle.net communication can only be done if you are friends with them. Consoles can do it because consoles allow you to send messages to their console account, not the Blizzard account itself.
The purpose of the message was just an example. There are plenty of other reasons to send messages.
The claim of cheating was only because the guy was McCree sneaking up on my team and the guy on my team basically looked in a spot for no apparent reason…which would imply he has the player-outlines turned on somehow.
After watching the replay closely, you can tell the guy was “reacting” when he came around the corner and not merely lining him up waiting for him to come around.

Not on the PC platform, you need to be friends with that user.
On console you can through the console-level messaging systems (but it is recommended that you do not do so as this is often seen as harassment).
Ok got it. IThis is the only blizzard game I play so I was hoping I was missing something in the Blizzard platform. Oh well.
