Is she widely used? No. But that doesn’t mean a character is bad. Great Sym players are fantastic; people who actually understand her nuances and tricks and all that can put her to wonderful use in the right comps.
Is she niche? Yes. Like Sombra and Mei, she has uses in certain comps. She isn’t an all-purpose hitscan but her gimmicks are good and if you can utilize them, Sym works extremely well.
Every single Exp patch I see people talk about there being no further changes for Sym and peoples are asking why. Why? Because the devs see her as a niche supporting DPS that, when applied well, is very powerful. She needs no changes, simply.
turrets are great if you know where to put them. They aren’t meant to sit in one spot the entire game. The TP has multiple uses, both to get people back quick, and TP swap around, turret bomb backlines, etc.
Unsure where you got the comment about her Ult; I find it fantastic in most uses, either stopping a push or winning a fight. If its used against Ana, saw goodbye to main heals.
Her primary and secondary are still fine; regardless of nerf.
Anyhow, Sym IS good if you can put the work into being good with her. If not, she isn’t for you.
Im sorry I have to lAUGH cuz you’re blowing smoke-up symm mains butts when they’ve had to begrudgingly adjust to this character’s reworks several times. The dev team even is acknowledging they’ve dropped the ball. They really took all her fun jobs and gave them to different heroes. Its unfair she gets the niche role and ez countering for that.
She’s only trash if your trash playing her, it’s idea to have teammates that enable you to get into close range, so I won’t usually pick her if I don’t have a shield tank, but she’s great at getting herself/teammates to high ground, past chokes, in or out of the objective quicker.
Her turrets don’t do much on their own, but utilized aggressively they’re great at slowing targets for you and your team to close in on and for finishing off low health enemies trying to escape, and obviously the defensive aspects of it are numerous. Setting traps, protecting support from flanks, slowing enemies through choke.
Her ultimate can literally save the entire team if timed well, as well as provide huge cover to advance while shield dancing.
‘Nerfing’ doesn’t make things suddenly unavailable, her primary fire can melt tanks at full charge, needless to say it can do the same to support/dps if you’re not stupid about your engagements. And her secondary, while difficult to aim at long distance, does decent splash damage that, again, is great at finishing off low health targets, scaring widows off for health, shooting into a choke/crowd, and dealing burst damage up close.
it always baffle my mind the rare time i get to “play” her that her teleporter cooldown isn’t starting when she’s using it, it feels so clunky and slow to play the way it is
