Recently, my game has just suddenly closes and kicks me to the desktop. This message then pops up with a randomly generated error code: “The application encountered an unexpected error” and it sends a report to Blizzard. I don’t have any Windows updates, my graphics drivers are current, and I don’t have any applications open that would tax my system to the point of a game crashing. I don’t have this issue with any other titles either. The only two things I can think of are maybe the recent patches have caused this for some users, or the fact that I recently went from 1 monitor to 2, but I don’t see why that would be a problem particularly for Overwatch.
Has anyone else experienced this issue as of late?
Happens for me every 30 minutes excactly too, i figured out the interval at least so i can prepare for it, due i mainly play customs, but working on a project and try to test it, getting crashes while doing so is really annoying, i have also all recent driver updates and system updates. I can’t figure out what causes this strange behaviour, repairing and scanning the game files won’t solve it, before mid October the game run flawlessly with the previour state of my system and drivers. Firstly i thought my XPen configuration caused it and deleted it’s driver software today, but nothing changed and it is still crashing every 30 minutes with the error messaging occure. The error logs say there was some memory access violation happening, but can’t derive from where it should try accessing it, my system is clean. The last option would be an BIOS update but i am not sure if that will fix it either.
I used to have that issue back in OW1 when I had an RX480 and the AMD graphics drivers were crashing. I wonder if it’s an issue with AMD graphics specifically… Though, back then that resulted in my entire computer freezing, which isn’t happening here - it just closes the game.
