Seeing the bebop skins almost every game

The mtx they had made them no money lol

Who was still buying lootboxes after 2018?
No one

They were releasing months worth of skins into the game for free. They were releasing new heroes and maps which took years to make for free

Where were they making money?

They weren’t working on the game anymore at that point though? When the decision was made to make OW2 the game was still making money…and had they not stopped working on it the game would probably still be making money…

Like if you’re going to compare the games do so when the game was still being worked on

How was it making money….

From the smurf accounts buying extra copies?

It stopped being worked on cus it made no money lol. What are you not getting?

The devs realised the game was a money sink and not worth more investment.

What do you think would have happened if they continued to release heroes maps and skins? They wouldnt suddenly have started making money out of nowhere

No one is feeding anyone. You pay for what you want to buy. You aren’t doing it for the poor ppl who can’t pay.
If the game can’t sustain itself due ppl not buying stuff, that is really not my problem anymore.

Again the game had mtx….billion dollars was reported from loot box sales

That’s not chump change…but it isn’t Fortnite money……that’s the only reason it changed

Yes that is literally how f2p models work lol

We pay so you dont have to. That is why the entry is free because people who pay supplement the people who dont

Assuming you arent in the UK, but we have a thing called national insurance where people who earn more wages pay a larger % of their income into a community pot. That pot is then used to fund emergency services and hospitals. Someone who is well off might never need to use it, but it supplements people who are on lower wages so they arent cut out of society and cant afford health care. People who can afford to essentially pay more, which subsidises the people who cant and makes it accessible for everyone

That is how f2p works. A small % of the community pays in which means those who cant are able to access it for free

ok, but i don’t have to respect you for spending your money in the game as you are implying.
Not to mention I can support the game at any time if I decide so.

…. In the first year
What about the subsequent years?

The first year will always have had the highest profit sales because people had no skins or credits to buy skins for free at that point. If you wanted a skin from an event you HAD to buy lootboxes. The very first summer games you literally HAD to buy lootboxes cus they didnt even have credits as a thing yet.

They didnt add duplicate protection on lootboxes until after the first year which again meant people had less reason to spend money. Not only did they stop getting duplicates but they were accruing credits to buy what they wanted faster. Meaning after that first year people had less and less reason to spend on mtx

This guy is so desperate for everyone to bow down to him for spending a few bucks on the video game. Must be lacking validation in his life.

Man, back when games were $60 gamers didn’t try to huff their own farts about supporting the game company and accuse everyone else of being freeloaders.

Youre actually helping them MAKE money by playing the game. If they didn’t have all you f2p players, the people that actually DO spend would be much less likely to do so.

It’s kind of like you think that if you go around wearing an OW2 t shirt that you got for free, you “cost blizzard money,” since they had to pay for the shirt. When in reality, you are walking around advertising OW2 for them, and helping them MAKE money.

You are literally just making things up and putting words in my mouth

Im just saying people shouldnt insult others for buying skins 1. Cus it’s literally none of your business if people want to spend their money on the game and 2. Because the people who spend money on the game are the reason others get to play without spending a penny

This is only true beyond a certain threshold of players to keep the game lively and queues reasonable. I bet the player population could drop by 10x and the network effect would still be strong enough.

This is a pretty dumb analogy because if they got enough money in revenue from advertising, they’d be giving out free shirts. Which they’re clearly not and never have.

Yeah but skinners are poor and triggered, so it’s easy pickings.

Weren’t the Le Sserafim skins priced the same? This isn’t anything new I think.

Games still do cost $60-70

Those just arent live service games though because if you want constant patches and updates, 1 $60/70 payment does not cover infinite years worth of dev time.

You can buy a game for $60 or even less just don’t expect it to get constantly updated every month. Dont expect years worth of updates and patches

Thats the ultimatum

You pay $60 and get the game and thats it
Or
Its free with optional $20 skins and you get constant free updates

There is no world where you pay $60 and also get infinite free updates

It’s not. The point is that you are using something that they are giving you for free, which is helping them make money.

No.

Why not? It worked for OW1 for what 7 years? Other games been carrying on longer.

There’s no such thing as “infinite updates” since all games die within 10-20 years.

Prove it, oh wait you can’t.

I mean, skin buyers can just ignore people

It’s simple logic. Do you know why fortnite makes SO much money? It’s because they have SO many players. They won’t be making the same if they just cut their playerbase 10x, rofl. I don’t need to “prove” that. It’s common sense.
