Seeing a Lot of "DPS Moira Your Way to Plat" Posts

So three questions:

  1. Is this why I’ve been seeing nothing but DPS Moiras in almost every game lately?

  2. Does this actually work?

  3. If “Yes”, then what happens after Plat? (Do they swap to another support, and do they stay there?)

Provide proofs (screenshots, video analyses, etc.) if possible.

  1. possibly. but also low ranked moiras just think that moira does a lot of damage and right click tanks all game.
  2. will do for some. not many though. you still need a brain. no point you DPSing as moira if your teams keeps dying.
  3. if yes, then once they are there, they will start to see people who can easily counter them and then they are stuffed.

One day Moiras will learn they get ult faster by healing, and will win so many more fights. But in gold and below, people are in it for themselves most of the time.

Unfortunately, many Moiras I play with don’t even know how much damage vs healing her Ult does, in terms of values.

I’ve mentioned it to more than one, and they were straight up unaware that it heals twice as much as it damage.

Why not do both? That’s what her kit is designed to accomplish.

I’m fine with it if the team is getting the healing when they need it. That isn’t commonly the case, though.

I personally spend more time healing and try to avoid throwing out trash damage to feed their supports. I think this is where most moiras become a detriment. They supercharge the other team’s supports

Well, not just that. A lot of lower-level supports underestimate the value of healing trash damage and keeping a team topped-off.

For example, if you heal Reinhardt to take him from 400 to 500 HP, Rein will feel confident to continue blocking or being aggressive. Even if he takes another 200 damage, he’ll just be down to 300 and probably feel like he can hold out for a bit.

But if you wait until Rein is below 200 HP and spams “I need healing”, Rein is going to back away and cede space to the enemy team. Sure, you healed 300 HP, but you might have also cost your team an advantage.

This is also why raw healing numbers are deceptive.

Moira doesn’t have very good burst healing. She should be looking to anticipate damage BEFORE it comes in and keep people topped off.

The biggest issue with role queue right now is tank players that are scared to push.

Lúcio and Moira are the only supports that live consistently crossing the choke.

Since they are the only ones on the other side of the choke, they have to deal damage.

Make the tank players press W and less Moira players will find the need to push it themselves.

To be honest, this makes me think of a Chicken-or-Egg problem: sometimes tanks are scared to push because of bad healing, and sometimes healers over-commit because the Tanks won’t do it.

And sometimes it’s both, because all of us suck down here in the Gold projects.

I think an easy fix for her, is to drop the damage orb.

It is annoying to be killed by something that just floats about after she’s dead, and that will force Moira players to heal more.

Or just have it so any orbs floating about disappear as soon as she dies. That would help.

People can aim better at 3k+ and the punishment for bad positional play for a DPS Moria becomes a real issue. That and players will respond to “Moira no fade” calls and pounce on her when she comes up for air.

You can still play her at all SR ranges as an evasive high healing + bonus DPS sort of hero of course. She is even seeing stage time in OWL now. Yet the strange lower SR move of picking Moira to only DPS and fade into team’s back lines just doesn’t work anymore past around plat.

It’s like how Winston can still do really sloppy dives below 3k where leap blind into the entire other team and nothing will happen to the Winston. Do that past 3k and everyone knows to move into the bubble and just kill you while they scream “free kill on munky!!!”

3d ago thread but well, I’m a new DPS Moira and on low ranks(I played Ana in the placements), talked about it in some random threads but idk if you saw anyway.

Yes

It does, specially in low ranks, if you’re another healer, Mercy, Ana, etc, you’re more likely going to lose due to a team that doesn’t really work, that will result in random losses and wins depending on your luck, so you don’t climb. Moira DPS can get things done as you can kill

Your team is now at least decent I believe, so you can play the healer you wanted to play, a healer to actually heal or provide utility

The last tie/undecided both are a disconnect due to my network, the only real loss I felt like it was 1v6, I don’t blame anyone for anything tho, they play what the want, the way they want, one of the win matches is a 5v6 too. Before playing DPS Moira it was random win/lose. Btw I’m not even that good with Moira, I didn’t even play many hours with her in QP before

Wow. That’s incredible. Can I ask what rank you play at? (This isn’t to argue against you, I’m just honestly curious about what SR this works in.)

Silver 1569, I wish I knew about it to do it in placements lmao

I wish you luck. [/Sincerity Mode] I decided to try it in mid-Gold and went on like a 0-4 losing streak last night before I gave up and just started queuing DPS again.

Moira has the best healing output and no other healer comes close without using ults… not that I disagree with the point, but I’m not sure why any healer would be letting teammates get to low health before trying to heal them

Bad gamesense. Because a lot of healers like to do their own thing until “forced” to heal someone who’s critical. Or they’re pocketing one particular player. I’ve had healers flat out ignore me while I was at 150 HP (as a squishy) or just above half health (as a tank) because they thought I’d be “fine”. They don’t realize that a 150 health DPS is basically Tracer and a half-health Tank is basically now a squishy.

I’ve actually been told by multiple support players “If you don’t use the Need Healing line, how am I supposed to know?”.

The lower you are, the more likely you’re to run into DPS Moiras. You’re also likely to run into them if they’re normally DPS mains too.

It’s situational. I feel like the lower you are the more you should DPS, but you shouldn’t primarily DPS at the same time. There’s a balance that must be learned.

You keep playing Moira, but supporting more often than you DPS. It’s necessary to DPS to get healing, but you shouldn’t over DPS.
