Season 9 Team Queue

I would like to be able to play with friends from all ranks without having to worry about SR.

In Counter-Strike, if you queue up as team (5), the rank does not matter.

Could we potentially get a similar mechanic in Overwatch? Even a separate queue for teams would be fine with me.

With Season 9 around the corner, I think this would be a great addition to the game.

Thoughts?

I certainly wouldn’t want it to be of any rank, maybe a bit less restrictive? I don’t know, maybe even that would be abusable in some sense.

Would you enjoy a game where you’re matched with 4 people of plat-diamond, a bronze player and a top 500 player where you get rolled over due to the top500 player basically winning on his own?

I certainly wouldn’t.

A separate queue for teams would probably have to be the solution then.

Edit: I have plenty of experience from this in counter strike since a friend of mine is semi pro. We would be a mixed stack of 4 and him at high global, the games basically played out in a way where if my global friend actually tried, he basically won games on his own and they couldnt stop him and if he wasn’t trying we got rolled instead since the opposing team where of far higher rank than the 4 of us.

I agree in Counter-Strike you can practically carry games by yourself. In Overwatch though it’s another story. You can definitely make your presence be felt, but most of the time it’s a team effort.

Also, if you choose to play with a wide variety of ranks on your team, who cares? You’re the one making that decision. The matchmaker would have to try to find a fair match in that case.

Unless it’s in a separate queue, the ones who get matched up with someone who almost single handedly wins a game against them certainly care.

I would definitely welcome some form of team queue though.

Agreed, but I’ll be honest : Playing competitive without friends is probably the most toxic experience I’ve ever experienced in any competitive video game. So having a competitive experience with your friends would be a nice addition to the casual play of Quick Play.
