So, for the April fools patch notes, the devs took away Mercy’s damage boost and pistol. Then in the season 10 trailer, I don’t understand why NOBODY is talking about it, but is that change going to stick? Is Mercy getting the rework she needs after Season 9 botched her so badly?
I am a Mercy main, and I understand people’s frustration with her damage boost and how much impact she can bring alone. But let’s be honest, Season 9 made Mercy useless. She is a healbot and her only use is damage boost. But she can’t damage boost and heal at the same time, on top of that it’s an inconvenience to have to switch from staff to pistol when you have an opportunity to kill a widow or another target who’s causing a problem.
The April fools patch, I feel, has it’s positives and negatives. Firstly, we lose damage boost so Mercy is a TRUE healbot who can only heal, but, now she can heal her team but she can shoot the enemy team at the same time. I don’t know if I am totally sold on the changes, but one thing for sure, I love not having to press a button to switch between doing damage and keeping my team alive.
I’d be more in favor of Mercy staying the way she is, but she needs something to help her be… well, fun. My problem as a Mercy main right now in season 9 is mercy doesn’t feel fun. The dps passive both helped the game but made it a nightmare for supports so much you’re better having lucio, moira, and zenyatta than any other supports. I don’t like playing these healers, and I’m not saying that I want Mercy to be better than them in the metta. All I want is for Mercy, Ana, Brig, Bap, etc, to still feel like they can bring something to the game without it feeling like you bring no impact to the game.
However, the reason for this topic is I want to know… is Mercy getting permanent rework in season 10?
