Seagul is right : too many casuals in competitive

Your profile has 30 + hours in a season (comp)

and you get paired up with someone who has under 10 hours in comp

competitive is flooded every day with casual players and its frustrating being paired up with these people

I dont know what the solution is, but Im making this thread to get a discussion going. Seagul was right on the money about this issue.

6 stack only competitive solves this.

Or aren’t you serious enough to play a team game as a team?

Are you saying you believe you are superior to people in your own rank just because you played more hours in the season?

They have the right to be there same as you.

I just hope Blizzard would implement clans/guilds so that you could team up more regularly with the same ppl and do competitive. It’s really hard now to get a “permanent” 6 stack with whom you could play 2-3 per week.

another reason why private profiles exist.

i’d just remove the competitive points and rewards for competitive and make gold weapon obtainable in other ways.
Because there are many people that play just to get those gold weapons and not for actual interest in competitive.

I agree. If you don’t have an Overwatch body pillow and don’t ship yourself with one of the characters in game, you’re too casual for competitive and I don’t want you on my team.

In your opinion, what qualifies one as a competitive player vs a casual player?

Where is the line drawn?

So it takes you 30 hours to obtain the same rank as it took that 10 hour player?

I may be just a lowly silver but it seems your more upset they don’t have to play as much to be just as good as you.

I have a team of 3-4 total and we do okay and have fun. I don’t comp without them, meaning I have less hours since we all have families, work or go to school. Real life trumps games.

Maybe Seagul is burned out and for the first time having to deal with an actual kind of counter to his instalock heroes, and is now finding everything in the universe to complain about.

Him being surprised at hero counters and that even though you can still out play a Brig with Tracer/Genji but she will make you less effective, should give everyone a very solid idea on where his thought process is, and him somehow not realizing that 90% of the roster had to deal with this since the games start.

Casuals climb the ranks in competitive because of Match Making Rating, which is a handicapping system designed to make Overwatch addictive rather than objective or fair.

Reported. Stop hijacking every single thread and trying to promote your own misguided agenda. Its bad enough blizzard allows you to have a topic that misleads the entire player base. You dont need to self promote on everyone elses thread!

He plays pharah dva Hanzo genji brig only counters one of these.

Your report is frivolous. I participate on the forums by saying what I think about the game, which is what they’re supposed to be for. Silencing dissent is for intellectual cowards.

Im sure he spent about half of a youtube video complaining about Brig countering Tracer and Genji just cause?
Complaining how you CAN outplay Brig on Tracer and Genji but you will be so much less effective that youre soft throwing if you dont switch?
Complaining how your hero picks are so revolved around conter picks now, as if this is a new adition to the game?
As a long term Phara player he should really not be surprised at the idea of enemy hero picks making you less effective if you dont swap off.

I think Seagull is an idiot.

Not everyone has all day to play the game like he does, so he can get over himself.

Any new player that plays decently enough, with some aim and limited knowledge of when to use abilities and ultimates will be put in the 2000SR range in comp.

That player cannot be helpful in climbing the ranks. And there are a sh1t ton of these in Gold. That’s why Gold is so frustrating to navigate in. Pure randomness.

I think that’s what OP meant. Number of time put in the game doesn’t equal to higher rank. Which doesn’t make sense and is deterred because of the above mentioned entry level Gold rank for all noobs.

I saw his video and will still say this because Blizzard already knows our feelings towards this issue: split up Competitive.

Right now half the playerbase plays like its Quickplay+ and complain about toxicity while the competitive players are frustrated and become toxic due to casuals. Its a big loop and will only get worse every season.

What do I mean by split?
Turn the current Competitive into Quickplay+ or rather leave it as it is because as I explained its already that. Then make a new Competitive mode with Role Queue and other wished features.
That way casuals can still rank up and earn their golden weapons without bothering the serious players.

Also I really like the Top 500 System. Why not show other players their real rank as well next to the icon so you can tell the new mode apart from normal Comp? Something like Master icon with a #1385 next to it or Platinum #20045 and so on…
Thoughts?

Not less effective that’s not how it is with tracer. She shuts down tracer completely. You could have the best tracer against a competent brig and brig will shut her down and he never mentioned genji. Genji is still meta and if he plays nanoblade during stun cooldown he will destroy brig.
