The conversation is already starting about how much sustain is still in the game. Supports are becoming the scapegoat in the conversation of imbalanced matches as one team struggle to ever actually kill enemies in these lopsided fiascos.
Tanks in OW1 were blamed and targeted for their survivability then nerfed into a near unplayable state. Supports are next.
MY PREDICTION…
…is that following the premiere of OWL, and likely before the next beta, we will see universal nerfs to the support class in the form of lowering base sustain numbers, and likely a handful of utility abilities get slammed.
i would remove passive heals. why would they need something like that if they already have one less tank to heal? they should heal eachother. Also remove dps passive to compensate, another -no one asked for this- change.
if they dont, lucio and brig need hard nerfs, others are fine. the game wont be saved cause its a huge mess but at least it wont feel like cod dethmatch.
Supports don’t depend on healing numbers, 99% of your heals go to tanks and dps that only feed.
its impact can be transferred to utility.
the difference is that bad players won’t get carried away by high healing numbers, and i hope hitscan can’t sit on high ground with a mercy pocket anymore.
I doubt that it’s because they are actually weak rather that supports have the largest change in play style out of every role. But yea they definitely don’t need nerfs.
At the same time, I would really be surprised if AntiHeal and SleepDart aren’t depowered before OW2 launch. Since those are the two hardest CC’s in a non-tank hero.
That said, I also expect devs to lavish other buffs onto Supports to make them more appealing to play.
A global nerf to support would almost definitely kill OW2, considering the current state of the role. I don’t know why DPS mains can’t just “adjust” to needing to be able to out-damage healing, considering they have a speed buff, more lethality, and less damage mitigation in the way. Or does lack of skill only apply to support?
